Shalimar Golf Club is a nine-hole golf course in Tempe. The course is best for beginners but it has enough challenges in store to make it a great option for more advanced players who want a quick round. The layout is comprised of three par 3s and six par 4s. It weaves through a smattering of mature trees and across gently rolling hills. The small greens can be quite tricky, especially since there are strategically placed bunkers lurking along some. Water hazards come into play on a few holes, including the 155-yard fifth, which is one of the golf course's toughest. You'll have to pull off a carry over the area's biggest lake to a heavily bunkered, narrow green. Shalimar Golf Club's ninth hole is the most well known though, mainly for the island green. In addition to the water, there are also four bunkers surrounding the green.

1st Hole and Driving Range Problems
The biggest problem was the first hole. You tee off then can’t find your ball mixed into the 3 dozen other balls because it’s is right next to the range. The range has very low fencing. They need to make the fencing taller so that range balls aren’t all over the first hole.

Fun course
This a fun course for the money it’s great for your short game.
The cart path needs a some work. The pace was slow. I would
defiantly play this course again.

The course overall was average. Only 9 holes. The first hole it took my group probably 10 minutes to find out balls because there was dozens of range balls on the fairway begin they do not have a tall fence to stop range balls from flying onto hole #1’s fairway. They also have footgolf. So, you’ll see multiple flags and it can get confusing. The greens are tough. And tough in a bad way.

Good value
Course cost as much as a large bucket of balls when we played (3 people with cart for around $45) so hard to argue with that. Good value overall. Greens are bumpy, inconsistent, and slow. Fairways are rough. Pace of play was slow and as you’d expect for this type of course no marshals or attempt to push people along. If you’re a good player a lot about the experience will frustrate you. If you’re a beginner or have kids with you or just want to bash drivers for fun, this is a good option. Very casual all around and a good alternative to hitting balls. Wish they could spruce them place up but there’s so much work to do, probably best to let it go like they have and serve the market it does.
