Shalimar Golf Club is a nine-hole golf course in Tempe. The course is best for beginners but it has enough challenges in store to make it a great option for more advanced players who want a quick round. The layout is comprised of three par 3s and six par 4s. It weaves through a smattering of mature trees and across gently rolling hills. The small greens can be quite tricky, especially since there are strategically placed bunkers lurking along some. Water hazards come into play on a few holes, including the 155-yard fifth, which is one of the golf course's toughest. You'll have to pull off a carry over the area's biggest lake to a heavily bunkered, narrow green. Shalimar Golf Club's ninth hole is the most well known though, mainly for the island green. In addition to the water, there are also four bunkers surrounding the green.

Best deal in the valley.
I'm not a professional golfer by all means but if you want to go to a course where everyone is professional and happy go to Shalimar. They maintenance team is working hard on improving the overall appearance but with the price and the lack of pressure to be so uptight and just PLAY golf, you can't beat it.

Great Value
This is a fun little course and is super cheap. It was in really good condition for the most part. Fairways and greens were nice, but mostly dirt on either side of the fairway. The driving range needs attention, no option except to hit off dirt. Great course for the money. With cart it was $18, walking is $12. There are a lot of walkers here so I replayed, but decided to walk. $5 replay to walk, $10 with cart. Easy course to walk and where else are you going to play 18 holes for under $20 this time of year?

Enjoyed a nice round with my daughter. Great value. We’re not to best golfers so why pay too much somewhere else.

Nice for the price
Had a relaxing time this morning. Not a bad place for the price. Only thing was no restrooms on the course. But it was only 9 holes.

Ok just needs some grooming. Greens were good but fairways were a little sparse.

Budget course
keep it in the fairway and its ok condition. The grass outside of the fairway is none existent. Pace of play was bad. 2.5 hours to play 9 holes.

Interesting course
At first the rate for 9 seams great. We arrived at 8:05 for and 8:30 tee time. We hit the golf shop and were greeted with “can I help you?”. We replied “yes we have an 8:30 tee time but would like to hit some range balls”.” We need you teeing off right on time otherwise you’ll create a back up so don’t be late”.”Your cart will be outside around the corner”. First impression a one man operation. Then on to the driving range. You basically have to be ok standing in clay mud. Very very swampy. We finished up and raced over to the tee box for our tee time where we met up with another two some. The course for the most part is free of obstacle. The entire course is extremely wet. By the time we finished the 9 we had soaked and muddy shoes and some mud on our lower parts of our pants from the splash of mud every now and again. We were never rushed just a few moments of panic from random balls flying at us. Would I go back. Yes with my 5 and 8 year olds so they can practice a course. Probably won’t meet other friends here.

Don't believe the reviews or pics
Not sure if it was the season, but this place is a dump!!!! We haven't had rain for at least a month and there are mud pits everywhere. They boast a hole 9 that is supposed to be an island, yet there's no water around any of it. The pace is over crowded, constantly waiting and having the following group wait as well. The only bright spot was the cart girl, who was cool to talk to and she needs a new cart. The cart backfired on her all day lol.

Not Bad
Great starter course definitely builds your confidence lol short par 4’s and par 3’s gives us higher handicap golfers a fighting chance! All in all it’s a nice course friendly staff and friendly people on the course I would go back for sure!
