Golfer Reviews
first time at Boulder
Pleasantly surprised . Good value and course in good condition
Muni golf
There will be times that you have non - golfers on the course. Not beginners! Non golfers who don’t respect the course and other golfers! A ranger would be nice to see sometimes! Thanks. Course is in great condition with a few very fun holes
Lots of Grass
This is a fun layout with big, beautiful trees, and a lot of grass. Fairways and greens are in great shape, and the rough is healthy but fair. I love this place and will play it many more times.
BCC is great!
Course is in fantastic condition for summer time. Reminds me a lot of Las Vegas National, love the lengthy holes, tons of shade and soft greens. Totally recommend and me and the boys will be back soon.
Good time
First, course was in great shape. Very nice. 3 of the guys I was with were from back East (DC and Florida). They said this would be $100-$120 round on a course like this back East. Good thing about Boulder Muni, good shade trees in most every tee box, so even hot days, there are cool spots. Will play again for next years guys' weekend!
Nice enough course
First I need to start with an open letter to Starters everywhere: If someone arrives 45 minutes early for their tee time, please let them warm up. I have been repeatedly rushed to tee off well before my tee time many times over the past couple years. I understand the starter is trying to manage pace of play, I understand there "is a large group behind me". But I'm out at your course for a relaxing walk in the park. - I do not want to feel rushed, especially when I stated twice that I need to warm up. I had a dangerous case of the shanks on the front nine as a result. On with the review...
The parking lot is large but is lacking trees and an EV charging station. When I walked up I had to chase down the attendant who was prepping carts for a large group by herself.
The Pro Shop was well marked for social distancing and the young man at the register acted as if I knew my way around - that is to say he didn't offer any information about where to go - I had to ask.
The carts are basic and do not include a cooler for ice, which sucks because one of the very visible signs says no personal coolers. This made it impossible to keep drinks cool thru the front nine. Also there was no beverage cart. The carts don't have GPS either and the pro shop doesn't have yardage books. You'll need to BYO third-party GPS app. The print out on the scorecard (had to get that from the starter) is inadequate to show the severity of the doglegs.
I played from the white tees with my buddy for the day and found it plenty long. The rough, fairway and greens were green and well maintained. the bunkers looked like cement - thankfully I was able to stay out of them all day.
Overall the course is wide and flat. You will find your ball in most cases unless you dunk it into the water, a neighboring house or duck hook into the driving range along the 18th fairway.
I picked Boulder City Golf Course because I noticed they offered booking as a single thru GolffNow app, usually they only allow 2-4.
I will likely return if there is a special rate available thru GolfNow..
Break from desert courses
Felt cooler than the 112degf on this grassy course. I would have died on a desert course. All the playing areas were in great shape. Somewhat unkempt flowerbeds and such. Friendly accommodating staff.
Fun and forgiving course
Staff was excellent. Course is beautiful, green and forgiving. Price is good too.
Fun course but mediocre staff.
The course is in great condition. I never have very high standards for municipal courses. The price is great for the quality of the course. Greens are very fast right now. The only issues i had were with staff. No one was readily available in the pro shop to check in. No score card was on the cart so i had to go back in the pro shop and search for someone to get a card from behind the counter. On the 18th hole the marshal came up to us and was very rude stating that "you were specifically told to have the carts back at 7pm." I had told him no one ever said anything about that. He continued very rudely saying he knew for a fact that someone told us. Mind you that it was sunday and the course was packed and we had 2 slow groups in front of us all day. Pace of play for the groups in front of us was very slow. I will return because I liked the course not because of the staff.
Great Value at This Course
The Proshop Staff Service always poor, old-school service, but once you get by them all is good - Equipment, Starter both great service. Greens in great shape and a challenge after to poorer conditions elsewhere. Overcast and windy, but still good pace of play.
Great Value - Few Quirks
If it wasn't for a few little quirks, I'd definitely give this course a higher rating.
The main reason for lowering my review is the staff/service. My buddy and I registered for a 10:45 tee time, arrived well in advance at 9:45 and were then pulled off the range before we were done hitting on the range to join a group at 10:15! No reimbursement, no time to chip/putt. All to benefit the course and have a foursome? Why not let us finish and team us up with someone closer to our tee time?
Throw in the fact that it felt like the man in the Proshop appeared as though he'd rather be anywhere but there and that soured my round from the beginning.
Last but not least, the greens were in excellent shape but the hole placement on 6 of the holes was completely irrational/unfair, an opinion shared by our foursome.
The service at the snack shack was absolutely amazing and the course itself was a nice track, especially for the first round of the year as it was definitely a forgiving layout.
All in all, I will try other courses now on my next visit to Vegas as I don't wish to give money to those that don't understand the value of service during times when service is king.
