About
Empire Ranch Golf Course is located just outside downtown Carson City in the scenic Carson Valley. Empire Ranch features 27 championship holes, making three individual nines that are played in three different 18-hole combinations. Sierra/River is one of the combinations, characterized by lakes and wetlands that are scattered throughout the course. The layout sprawls across the landscape’s natural buffs, offering a scenic environment. All of the golf courses provide a fair challenge for players of all skill levels. In addition to the 27 holes of golf, Empire Ranch G.C. also offers extensive practice facilities including a 300-yard driving range and practice greens.

Neglected
Course is a nice area. Course is laid out well but is so mismanaged that they should pay you to play this course. Greens are horrible, brown spots everywhere. Spots are super wet and way too thick. Very inconsistent from hole to hole. Cart påtas are in bad shape and wet mown grass everywhere. Holes everywhere too. Could be a great little course but not kept up.
Not the best
Course is on an old marsh filled ranch and is not in decent shape. Ponds, marsh and reeds come into play on every hole so bring extra balls. Very little grass, mostly mowed weeds on the fairways with lots of bald spots so ball goes no where. Rough was so thick you could not find your ball. Greens not in good shape. Not a fun experience.

Poorly maintained course
Very slow play, no Marshall’s, poorly maintained course - would skip it

Wouldn’t waste your money
Played this course a few months ago and had mixed feelings about it then. Came back to play today and my mind was made... I wouldn’t recommend this course to anyone and I won’t be coming back. Don’t get me wrong, I only paid $20 to play 18 holes so you get what you pay for but I’ve played way nicer courses for less. The greens and fairways were absolutely atrocious… unplayable. Didn’t even feel like a golf course. The carts are outdated and overall wasn’t a fun experience. I wouldn’t waste your time or money.

Course on a come back
There is a lot of love being put into this course. Head pro is passionate and customer focused and it shows up in his staff. At $30 it is a great value! Work is going into the course, but practice facilities hopefully are next.

Good valve friendly staff!!
Had early morning tee time and ran off and forgot my putter. Pro shop guy loaned me one and gave me a range token for free. Course was pretty good condition and they're improving it all the time. I like the new 150 markers. Will definitely be back

Nice day, beat the storm weather. Wasn't but two personal, one at desk and one at cart,, no starter, had to ask other golfer where first tee was and course lay out.Our first time playing and will play there again
