Dayton Valley Golf Club

My favorite local course has fallen. While the green and tee boxes are still great, the rest of the course is just awful! Weeds are out of control, large barren batches in fairways and around the greens. 😞

Few frustrations 1st. Driving range closed so no warmup. Practice green slow and a bit shaggy, practice area not taken care of. Course is well planned and good layout. Course conditions are a few steps below what youd expect. Needs TLC and re-invesgment. Many Bunkers are hard and contain no sand. Standing water and mushy conditions a lot of places. Hadn't played for a couple of years due to poor condition of the course. Decided to give it another try - and pleasantly surprised. Tees, fairways and greens all in good condition. Only negative for me was bunkers which were more like mud / stone pits rather than bunkers, but hoping this might get addressed. Good experience overall.

Play on the weekday. Hardly anyone out there. Bar opens at 10, so bring refreshments to stay hydrated in the morning

Not the first time I've played here. Course layout is great, and par 3's are challenging. Staff is friendly, except there were no cart personnel that offered drinks or snacks on the course.

Water jugs were completely empty (not even in the holders) throughout the course. Some of the bunkers are completely overgrown (especially on 18).

Restaurant offered good food (get the spinach artichoke dip) and staff was equally friendly there as well. Just a couple things to improve on the course, but ill definitly be back.

This Dayton course has its challenges yet the mix of moguls, some hills and water makes it a good place to play and use most all the clubs in your bag. Thanks!

Years ago, this course was top 5 in Northern Nevada. An Arnold Palmer design that is a beautiful layout-water, bunkers, risk reward, and with views of the mountains everywhere you look. The course has not been maintained properly for years. It is currently in relatively rough shape. One positive, I was told a new superintendent has been hired. I wish him well and hopefully he can revive this course to be what she used to be.

No Marshal so pace of play was 5+ hours. No cart girl so BYOB.

Played the course on a perfect spring day. Winds can wreak havoc on several holes that require carrying water. The normal winds add to the challenge on the course. The greens are currently in good shape. Pace of play was good up until the turn when bathroom breaks and food/beer runs can typically cause an issue. The right side of the 8th hole fairway is coming back after water issues stunted the growth last year. Fairways are narrow and end abruptly. Sometimes a Driver/Power strategy may not be the best plan.

THe3 course conditions were vastly improved from last August when I played it before.
