About
Empire Ranch Golf Course is located just outside downtown Carson City in the scenic Carson Valley. Empire Ranch features 27 championship holes, making three individual nines that are played in three different 18-hole combinations. Sierra/River is one of the combinations, characterized by lakes and wetlands that are scattered throughout the course. The layout sprawls across the landscape’s natural buffs, offering a scenic environment. All of the golf courses provide a fair challenge for players of all skill levels. In addition to the 27 holes of golf, Empire Ranch G.C. also offers extensive practice facilities including a 300-yard driving range and practice greens.

Enjoyed the course
Will play here again. Everything was great while some fairways were under repair.
Not bad for the price.
The course is in decent shape with the greens in nice shape. There is a few fairways that have been made into par 3's. Tge biggest issue is the rough is already thick and balls will disappear quick but some leftover clippings will eat your ball making it impossible to find. So just stay in the fairway and you will have no issues.
Wonderful views of the surrounding hills and mountains!
Enjoyed the course ... there were a couple of holes that were shortened due to seeding ... I am looking forward to returning.
Good daily course for average golfer.
Course conditions were less than wonderful as a result of weather from previous week. Rough was very long and fairways were just recovering. Don't believe conditions were a result of poor maintenance.
I'd play it again.
Great Spring Course
Spring is the time to play in the desert! Great round, well maintained, nice clubhouse, perfect temperatures. Will definitely play here again!
Good course for variety of play
Ground crew is doing great job of bringing the course back in shape. Staff, both inside and out, were friendly and helpful.
Always enjoy playing this course. Play is generally kept moving, course is a bit challenging, the staff is always friendly and helpful.
Since I'm a member of the ladies' club at Empire Ranch, I try to play it often. It's always the first course I try to find a tee time when family/friends come to town to play. I was pleasantly surprised to find that wonderful $15 per player deal we got on the 30th.
A good course for the value
Empire has some issues with the course at this time, but still a great value for $25. 27 challenging holes. Greens are in good conditions. Certain fairways need a little bit of work but I'd recommend this golf course.

like to go back in summer. Wide open, water and
large fairways.
Good value and 27 holes for variety
I have to drive an hour to reach the course, but the drive is worth it.
Last winter's lack of snow put them far behind this year, but the work shows their desire to give you a good value. No 5 hr round either.
I'll be back since I could get on when I wanted to play and I didn't waste all day once I was there. Great food as well.
reseeding in fall 2012
good course for the money. went there in october 2012. kind of rough. they had a difficult yr with too much drought. were replanting fairways when i was there. conditions not too great at the moment, but i would expect it to improve as i played there a few yrs back and it was fine. pretty flat course with elevated greens. plays easy when wind is down, pretty tough on windy days as there is trouble surrounding a lot of greens.
