About
Empire Ranch Golf Course is located just outside downtown Carson City in the scenic Carson Valley. Empire Ranch features 27 championship holes, making three individual nines that are played in three different 18-hole combinations. Sierra/River is one of the combinations, characterized by lakes and wetlands that are scattered throughout the course. The layout sprawls across the landscape’s natural buffs, offering a scenic environment. All of the golf courses provide a fair challenge for players of all skill levels. In addition to the 27 holes of golf, Empire Ranch G.C. also offers extensive practice facilities including a 300-yard driving range and practice greens.

Worst course in Carson
Terrible staff! the starter (I believe his name was Tom) older gentleman was extremely rude and irritable. Duo got to skip the line cause they “knew the owner” pace of play was thrown off and blamed every other group. Course conditions were terrible in September and greens were filled with duck feces. If you havent tried this course I would say don’t. Hard to even give it 1 star.
Staff was extremely helpful and nice!
First time playing this course and it was a lot of fun. Some patchiness on the fairways, but course website noted they were Re-seeding some areas so it was expected going in. Greens were great and course was a great afternoon.
Course conditions
Course is not in good shape. Greens are pretty good, considering. Price was fair for course conditions. If you bump the ball, you can play it. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Would recommend for the price.
Very rough conditions.
Course has not recovered from flooding 2 years ago. There is a lot of bare areas on the fairways which (looks like they haven't received any attention). Cart paths could use some work. Greens are good though.
Great for quick spur of the moment golf.
Nice employees. Fairways very rough with too much 'waste area', even in the fairways. Several bunkers were just dirt. 80% of the greens were in good shape, and surprisingly challenging and subtle. 20% were in less than good shape, but not in bad shape. It is a good bargain. It's the only links type course, with hard and fast fairways that give you extra yards, that I've found in the area.
It was a great day with friends and everything was excellent

What’s going on ???
The greens were in great condition.
However, the fairways were wet, muddy and dirt instead of grass! It was impossible to hit the ball well off of mud or dirt. This is a beautiful location and a nice layout.
They need to work to get all of the “area under repair “ REPAIRED quickly!!

A fun course to play!
This was a fun course to play. Not too hard not too easy. I gave it a 4 star because some of the fairways still need some work to get into shape as there were a few bald spots. The greens were in great shape, rolling slow but true. The staff was very nice as well!
