Sierra/Comstock at Empire Ranch Golf Course
About
The Sierra/Comstock Course is one of three 18-hole combinations provided by the three individual nines at Empire Ranch Golf Course. Nestled in the scenic Carson Valley, Empire Ranch features 27 holes of golf that overlook the Carson River. Although the golf courses have a seemingly secluded location rolling along dramatic bluffs, they are actually only minutes from downtown Carson City. Sierra/Comstock features smooth, fast greens and tight fairways, but the layout is forgiving enough for players of all skill levels to enjoy. Empire Ranch, in addition to the three courses, offers a full practice complex with a 300-yard driving range and a teaching facility that offers personalized instruction for all skill levels.

Great value
This is a course we will play all the time. No need to pay a lot. A good challenging course.
Course is in good shape, and the price is unbeatable.
First timer
Course condition was average at best. Greens were excellent but fairways were rough. Fairways had spots of standing water and bare spots in middle. Played for very low price would not consider at higher green fees
15 years later
Staying in the Truckee area and had a chance to re visit Empire Ranch. it still is a great flat course for walking Sadly the red 9 has been taken out of play. The blue and white 9s make a tight fit But I had no problems with wayward shots as the course was virtually empty
The only complaint: there was no water available on the entire course. I took one water bottle thinking a drinking fountain or water coolers would be strategically placed throughout the course, especially in the summer. The
Last couple of holes I was really struggling.
Great value and pace
Challenging at times - green crew has it in good sahpe. Lots of casual water, normal for the area.
No Marshals
As I made the turn at 9, two twosomes cut in front of me beginning their round. I was following a single and as soon as I finished 9, headed for 10.
No marshal in sight. I advised clubhouse and left after 9 holes.
Needs a little work.
For the what we paid, it was a great deal. Course needs work to get some of the fairways in better shape. The greens were in good shape, so we were satisfied overall.
Little windy,water hazards dry
Overall good value played for $20. No starter or beverage cart. 18 0f 27 holes open. No marshal very slow play 4.5 hours for 18
Some areas still need work
I had an enjoyable round. I played 9 holes. I was disappointed that the fairway on #9 is still in bad shape. But, overall , a good round.
Coming Back
The staff has done a great job of bringing back the course from the floods. For the first time in a long time, both blue and white courses were open and could be played as designed. Red is still in progress, but coming along.
Course had been flooded and unplayable except the blue 9.
Weather was perfect but the course was not. Been flooded badly and still the damages were being repaired but they seemed to take their time doing it with only a handful of people actually working on the repairs. Even before the flood the red course didn’t have a good condition with a couple of holes not playable. Had to jump from the red course to the white course, This was the third time we played there and never finished. This time we were forced to quit after playing 11 holes. Even with the GolfNow discount, it was not worth. Sorry but we will stay away from this course the remainder of the year.
Great course
After all of the flooding and other unfortunate events with Mother Nature, this course is committed to repair the damaged areas and bring the course up to snuff.
