About
The Sierra/Comstock Course is one of three 18-hole combinations provided by the three individual nines at Empire Ranch Golf Course. Nestled in the scenic Carson Valley, Empire Ranch features 27 holes of golf that overlook the Carson River. Although the golf courses have a seemingly secluded location rolling along dramatic bluffs, they are actually only minutes from downtown Carson City. Sierra/Comstock features smooth, fast greens and tight fairways, but the layout is forgiving enough for players of all skill levels to enjoy. Empire Ranch, in addition to the three courses, offers a full practice complex with a 300-yard driving range and a teaching facility that offers personalized instruction for all skill levels.

Great course for beginners!
My golf buddy and I took out two friends and had a blast! One guy, his first time on a golf course really enjoyed it. We picked up a few times to keep pace but had no issues and had a great time!! Course was not perfect but it was good enough and a great value. I would recommend this course for anyone wanting to take up the game. It’s got a few challenges and a few easy holes and the ideal place to get started! Grab your buddies and go out and play!

My thoughts on Empire Ranch
The course was enjoyable and quite challenging. I would recommend marking the course better so golfers can tell the line of play tee to green. GPS on the carts or centered poles starting within 200 yards of the tees so they can be seen from the tee box. Also water on the course. There was no drinking water. Also needed are sand bottles to repair divots.

Cheapest Golf in Nevada
Love this course, super cheap for a cart and a round.
Not sure if they are understaffed or what, but areas near the greens and even the rough haven’t been cut for a while. Just stay on fairways and greens or your ball will end up in 6 inches of clover haha.

Enjoyed a round at Empire Ranch. Course was in good shape. A few greens needed attention but overall in good shape. Staff was very friendly as usual. Will return soon.

Beautiful and Fun
This course was fun to play. Challenges were expected and delivered, but not so hard that the fun was taken away. Employees were friendly and helpful. Was able to start play an hour earlier than scheduled. Will definitely be back. Only uncomfortable part to the whole play was the smell of a dead animal near hole 6. Other than that, a perfect day at the course. Thanks to the board and course management for doing your best to make the course it's best.

Conditions not great
For value it’s good to just get out and golf, however lots of dry dead patches all over course

Needs a lot of work, fairways need filled,tee boxes need replaced and half the greens need repaired including the practice green.You should always have practice balls available.

Bad condition.
Several fairways and greens were pretty bad. I could move the ball on fairway but green is different story. But many greens I have to move the ball some distance to putt because in line grass has died that makes very bumpy and turned direction. It's not worth to pay and drive.

Good value
Found hot deals for 18/cart, used some credit I had and had a good round. Course was wide open, got thru front in an hour and a quarter, great time. Local muni course, nothing much more special

Good Value
Course was in fair condition. Greens were slow and winter damaged. Restaurant closed early. The insects were pretty bad.

Empire golfing
I recently signed up for membership here. I want to play more and it made financial sense over paying for each outing. The club manager made me a good pro-rated deal for the rest of the year.
I like the layout and the challenge of the course, although I have played tougher courses. The scenery and convenience for me is great.
The course conditions could be better. but not a game changer. The practice greens need to be groomed, and some of the course fairways need cleaning up. But I know the club has plans, so I am satisfied.
