Sunridge Golf Club
About
Located justhalf-hour drive from both Lake Tahoe and Reno, Sunridge Golf Club features monster holes and mammoth lakes. The 669-yards par 5 11th - the longest hole in the scenic High Sierras region and then some - draws your attention as soon as you look at the scorecard. But the 26 acres of water on the golf course will probably provide more challenge and thrills.
There's also a hole with a 300-foot drop from the tee to the fairway (No. 14), a tiny par 3 19th bet-decider hole and a ton of driveable par 4s that almost beg for you to go for it. As a bonus, Sunridge Golf Club's green fees wow many vacationers used to Tahoe pricing.

Mountain Goat
This course is fun, but make sure you bring your walking shoes! Many holes are cart path only. There is quite a bit of water and very hilly terrain. Make sure you bring extra balls!
Needs work
Course in terrible condition. Lots of weeds and dry spots. Hard to tell Fairway from rough.
Interesting elevation changes
After cruising through the front nine, I switched to the white tees when I caught up with a twosome...good choice for the back nine. Holes 9-13 played tough with water coming into play. Extra par three (19th hole) after you finish up, which raised much discussion as to whether or not it would count as an official "hole-in-one" if you happened to sink it.
mr
poor fairways. greens good.not worth playing at any price
Great greens!
Really enjoyed this round. Grounds are in the best shape I've seen here, especially the greens! Keep up the good work!
Bring some balls
Tough course= long round. Conditions marginal. Gd value for money spent. Bring lots of balls:). Must play atleast once. Then u decide. Lots of hills & water.
Great Challenge
What a wild ride. Insane elevation changes. Great fun, though. Course was in good shape and looked to be headed for a beautiful set up for summer, 2014. I play at a 5.3 hdcp at happended to shoot an 80. 39/41. If you think about your yardages, this place is scoreable, I blame my problems on the wind that picked up on the back nine, and lack of knowing what to hit. ie: from a 200 ft elevated tee par 4. <~~ double bogeyed this hole. Apparently it's a mid iron shot down to the fairway not a hybrid! Have fun! It's a great challenge.
Northern Nevada's "Blue Monster"
The first 13 holes are a lot of fun with water on most of the holes and a good test for an average golfer like myself. The pace of play was good but we were there on a weekday and I could see the pace of play getting very slow if busy. Holes 14-17 were cut thru the hillside and too gimicky for my taste. The fairways were dry with bare patches but the greens were great. It seems all the courses in Reno-Carson suffer from problems growing fairway grass after the winter. Lots of tee positions so it should be great for any level of golfer.
Bring lots of balls
A lot of water on this course. Follow instructions in the course book and you should do okay. I usually like to walk a course but this one would be a challenge as many of the holes are up on steep hillside and long distances between holes. Cart is best to use. Had fun playing this course.
Needs attention
The course is OK due to the time of the year. 25 mph winds don't help. With some TLC, this course can be fun.
Good Day
Played the back nine only. Course is getting in better shape. Lots of evaluation changes on the back nine. Overall a fun course
This course isn't boring!
I've played Sunridge quite a few times. There are some areas of the course that need some serious improvements. The sand traps, certain areas of the fairway, and a few tee boxes need some attention. The reason I keep coming back to Sunridge is the value! I played on an extremely windy day which made it quite difficult to score. If the weather is nice and no wind I really enjoy coming to this course. It does have some quirks but once you know the right yardage you'll appreciate the layout.
Good course, bad weather
Got it for 3 players and got paired with Bill..(Good fun company). Had a great time but it was pretty windy and kind of cold. Still had a great time and it was pretty empty. Some holes are naturally long, but with the wind they play extremely long..Great challenge if you think about/plan your shots. Over all rating could be better, but that is due to the fact that is not quite summer and course is recovering from the cold.
mickey mouse operation
Course in awful shape. Stood at front desk to check in for 15 minutes without being acknowledged while employee chit chat at snack bar. Golf pro made us start on back 9 which forced us to wait several minutes on most every shot. No course marshall to enforce rate of play. Tee boxes had no grass- dirt and weeds. After it took 5.5 hours to play 13 holes our Cart started to die so we called it a day and BARELY made it to within sight of course to walk our bags (uphill) back to pro shop. Oh also they made us observe a 90 degree rule. An absolute carnival course.
Huge elevation drops
Sunridge is a lot of fun with one hole having a 200 foot vertical drop. Difficult greens and lots of hazards. Great course for any golfer that likes a challengs.
Challenging Course. Great Value. Very freindly pro in the pro shop.
Taking into consideration the time of year.
Grass on fairways and around the greens we very short.
Hard to get lob wedges under the ball .
Bunkers were not in good shape at all. Very poor sand or more like dirt.
good and challenging course.
Enjoyed the day. It been a few years sine we played it. Will return.
OK golf course.
The front 9 layout is pretty good. The back 9 is funky. The course was in fair condition considering the time of year. The greens had been punched ( I had no idea until i was on the course) and were still very bumpy.
For the $ (hot deal), this is a very good value.
Great Time, tough course!
We had a large group (7) and that's what took us so long to play. The course is super challenging with either water or elevation changes on pretty much every hole. The fairways are very tight as well. It's a great course to challenge your golf game as well as your patience with yourself.
local knowledge important
Couple of blind tee shots - get the yardage book and read it! Water comes into play on 8 holes and shouldn't bother play, but it can. Great views from elevated tees and some forced carries for the beginners. Course needs work, but they know it and are working on it - takes time and money. Fun course to play.
