Lakes Course at Genoa Lakes Golf Club
About
The Genoa Lakes Golf Club's Lakes Course brings water into Lake Tahoe-Reno golf. It's found on 14 of the 18 hole on the Lakes Course and it's not always nice tame water of staid old country clubs either. Sometimes you'll be shooting over near swamps with tall gnarly grasses poking out of them. That's the Lakes Course.
It's one of the more natural settings in an area known for its nature settings. You'll see cows along the border of the course - and birds will come flying up that you probably can't identify.
Lakes Course is a Peter Jacobsen and John Harbottle III design with rolling fairways, some tight shot openings and good views. It's 7,359 yards of golf with the Carson River and wetlands riding shotgun. It's located in Carson Valley, an often forgotten town, that's right inbetween the big gaming spots of Reno and Lake Tahoe. That makes Genoa Lakes Golf Club a pretty easy course to get to from most of the popular areas in the High Sierras.

Fun day at the lakes course
Course was in surprisingly good shape for the middle of march. Moderately busy, got around in four hours. Fairways were in good shape, still some brown from the winter. Greens showed the last signs of being plugged but putting surprisingly quick and true. Need to get over to this course more often.
Great course, Great Value
Played in off season so conditions were not perfect but were good for time of year. Pace of play can be slow depending on level of golfers in front of you. Staff was great and food was very good. Highly recommend.
One of the best courses in the area
What a great course an a cool area to visit! Even though it is January, the course was very playable. The fairways were excellent and the greens were very good.
I had a special request for a souvenir and the staff went out of their way to find it for me.
Thank you Genoa Lakes staff an I'll see you again soon!
nice course but slow and windy
Although the booking said that it included cart and range balls, when we got to the course the range was closed so no warm up.
Pace of play was very slow as they had several tournaments out on the course and we had to start on the back nine.
great course, but tricked out for some reason
The pin placements are bizarre - on top of shelfs, edge of greens, in the middle of ridges, etc...it cheapens a nice course - if you hit a good putt but miss - and then it rolls fifteen feet back to your feet...well, you wanna look for the windmills.
wonderful experience
We loved this golf course! From the moment we arrived at the bag drop area, we were greeted by friendly and professional staff who did everything to make us feel welcome. The course was challenging, and in great shape. The Supper Club had friendly staff, and was the perfect place to stop for lunch and drinks following our round. We liked it so much, we played it a second time while on our golf vacation.
Excellent experience at Genoa Lakes golf course...
We had an wonderful experience from the moment we drove up to the bag drop area at the Genoa lakes course in the Lake Tahoe area. . Attentive staff readily loaded our bags onto the cart, and had us checked in and ready to tee off in no time.
The course was beautifully maintained, and offered challenging holes for players of all levels. The scenery was beautiful. The bar/restaurant was a friendly place to stop and have great food and drinks following your round. Not to mention the views from the restaurant.
Highly recommended!
great course
only down side more sand needed in a couple of traps
One of our favs!!
We love this course!! Have played it all year round.... Staff is always friendly & helpful-they make a breakfast sand to die for!!! And if u play during the week of ure bday you can play for free!!
Good course for the money but the wind
Played the Lakes course, great deal on Golfnow. Course is in good condition and moderately challenging. Beware of wind conditions, in the early afternoon it felt like being in a wind tunnel.
Quite a drive
Great course. Winds were the worst I have ever experienced. Do not ever play mid to late day.
My experience at Genoa Lakes golf course
I love Genoa Lakes, it's one of my favorites! It's beautiful & kept in great shape! The wild life there is awesome! I always look forward to playing there!
This course has good features
Everything was smooth from check ln to finish. I wll be there more times with friends in this year. It's wonderful experience. That's golfnow!!
Great course
Other than the punched and sanded greens the course was in excellant condition. The wind was gusting but thats Nevada. Will return again to challenge myself on a Pro quality course.
Great Value
Very friendly staff
Excellent value for off season.
Check your yardages very carefully, as you can hit through some of the fairways.
Takes a couple of rounds to learn the course layout and determine where the trouble lies.
Good golf course but.......
This is a good golf course with a nice layout.
The problem is the greens are in POOR shape.
They are bumpy and look like they were punched in the fall but never healed.
If it was not for the 'hot deal' I would have played elsewhere. I hope they get their greens in order before they start charging $95 to play.
Genoa Lakes
Golf in Feb. you have to allow for things, it's a beautiful course. The sand was bad it rained on Sunday and there was still some standing water in the traps, grass was starting to green up from the rain and the sunshine. We ran into the worst part of playing Genoa wind gust of 40 MPH. Makes for a rough round but still a very enjoyable day.
Awesome course! We're coming back!
Awesome we'll recommend the course to all.
Great conditions for Nov!
