Long Bay Club

About
The Long Bay Club boasts a Jack Nicklaus Signature design that is consistently ranked as one of the top golf courses in South Carolina, a major accomplishment when you're competing with golf destinations such as Hilton Head and Kiawah Island. The landscape showcases the beauty of the Lowcountry with forests of pines, dogwoods, and maple trees divided by clear blue streams. The golf course design closely mimics the natural contours of the terrain but there are also countless large, man-made mounds that were seamlessly sculpted into the surroundings. It is considered one of the toughest golf courses on the Grand Strand. Golfers will face numerous bunkers that are seemingly bottomless as well as vast waste areas. The signature hole is the par-4 10th, which features a u-shaped waste area that completely surrounds the fairway and then crosses in front of the elevated, contoured green.

Greens in very rough shape.
Played 3 courses this past weekend, long bay was the most expensive and was in the worst condition!! Almost every green had dead/bare spots all around the perimeter, the center of the greens were in pretty good shape though. Overall good course just needs serious work on the greens
Decent course
Course was in decent shape. Fairways and tee boxes were great. About half of the greens were in bad shape. All in all fair place to play.
It’s a shame…
Really good layout completely over shattered by the bad condition of the golf course. They had just top dressed the front nine (did a really poor job of it) with zero notifications that it had been done. The first nine greens were basically unplayable - far too much sand applied and not spread evenly - causing them to be running about a bumpy 4 on the Stimp. The back nine greens (which I was told are slated to be top dressed the day after we played) were in rough shape as well.
It has been quite a while since I’ve played this course and it is sad to see how it’s fallen - I assume due to a lack of money. I was surprised how inexpensive ($75 with cart) it was but, now I understand why. I would have to have assurances that it’s gotten dramatically better before I would ever go back.
Nice layout
I liked the course layout, bunkers where in great shape and mostly raked well, greens were ok but some spots appeared to be teated with green colouring, course condition were good for this time of year, I enjoyed and would play again.
Fun Course Even in March
My foursome had a great time at Long Bay. We loved the layout and considering the dormant grass the course was in wonderful condition. We'll play here again.
Nice place and fun
The golf course's grass and course were good. The distance was long and there were many courses that were not easy, but it was fun to play.
So-so
Not a bad place to get a round in. Greens were good, quite a few with challenging slopes. Rough was non existent, so go ahead and bomb it. All in all I would return.
This golf course could be rename to Long Play
Pace of play was SLOW!!!! From what I was told the rangers are never allowed to approach players who are in violation of slowing the pace of play down. No matter how slow the party is. I cannot recommend this course, nor will I be returning.
Ripoff
I booked with golf now for 58$ when I arrived at the course they charged me an extra 24$ for a cart fee. With taxes it put it up to over 95$ l didn't keep a copy of my confirmation (dumb) so I paid it. I got ripped off. I have played this course 4 times in the last month but will never go back.
Good value
I enjoy the course. Good condition, very open and little trouble.
