Golfer Reviews
Bunkers trash
The course overall is great but bunkers are straight garbage and in dire need of work
Best overall value in the area
Brickshire always delivers a great experience. Despite the drought-like conditions, and the fact other course are near-dead from lack of water, Brickshire is keeping the course alive, and enjoyable. Granted, the greens are a little slower than usual, but st least they’re thriving, as opposed to dead. Staff is great and the in-course food/beverage lady is a true gem, and enhances the experience. While it’s a 55-minute drive for me, the rates and experience make it worth it, and I’ll definitely be back!
Beautiful course
Me and my husband decided to go play here and the experience was everything we were looking for, beautiful place.
Love this course
Played Brickshire on Saturday morning. We were the first group off so pace of play was not an issue at all. Staff is friendly, course was in amazing shape even with very little rain. Greens were super soft and fast. Bunker were, for the most part, in good shape as well. Love this course and will be back as often as I can.
Course in GREAT shape but had to deal with rude Marshall.
Course is in the best shape I’ve seen it. Played in a twosome with my dad. Pace was generally okay even though we had a couple foursomes ahead of us and everything was going great until the marshall literally came out of nowhere (probably hiding) and was being really rude apparently because my 72 year old dad had to climb out of a bunker on the back 9. No need to be an absolute unpleasant about that. I feel like that left a bad taste in our mouths the rest of the round.
105 Heat Index...
Extremely hot day with a heat index of 105. However, there was a nice, gentle breeze and plenty of trees lining the fairways and the cart paths to get some shade. The Starter was nice but a little casual about his tee sheet. I was a single and, if I hadn't inquired and pushed a little, I would have been a single, behind a single, behind a threesome...with a twosome behind me. Didn't make sense for pace of play and managing the flow of the course. So, I paired up with the other single and we blew through the threesome in front of us and the foursome in front of them...only to find an open course. We never saw anyone from the 8th hole in. We were able to set our own pace then and played in 4 hours on a Saturday. The course is in excellent condition. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens were excellent. The bunkers were questionable, but they were still wet and holding some water from recent rain--thank goodness I was only in one but it took me a little to get out of the "mud." I love the layout of Brickshire--a nice mix of risk/reward holes, easy and challenging. It has a little bit of something for everyone. Always try to get to Brickshire once or twice a year when I'm in Williamsburg. Definitely worth playing.
Great course with real PGA holes!
I loved this course..
9.5/10. Great staff and pure fairways/greens
Bunkers were slightly “gravely” but for $35-$45 for 18 is a steal in today’s market
peak condition
Brickshire is a really enjoyable design and it's now in peak condition. turf and greens are fantastic, and the crew has done a herculean job getting all those traps in playable shape
Heck yeah
Great course. Great food. Thanks for the sweet tea Lauren!
Fun Course For All
Interesting layout. Several tee options. Reachable Par 4. Wide fairways. Greens perfect. Fairways, Tee Boxes, Rough nice. Bunkers not good in general but they seem to be that way everywhere at public courses. Played in 3.5 hours. Had a lot of fun.
Course in great condition
From tee to green, everything in great condition. Very friendly people in pro shop and grille. Always a pleasure to play at this course. Can't wait to play again. Well worth the drive from Williamsburg
Best Value Around!
The course is in the best shape I’ve ever seen it in! The greens are rolling really well, the fairways are well manicured, and the rough isn’t too thick. The only downside is the bunkers (like a lot of courses) because they don’t seem to drain very well and retain Yoo much water. This is definitely THE top course in the area, especially for the money, and I say that after playing Royal New Kent, Viniterra, Stonehouse, and Colonial Heritage over the last month.
