Tight lies, very good greens
3 hour round with an 8AM tee time with a threesome, outstanding! Grass a little thin on course gives you a good rollout. Price is right, coming out f the pandemic I’ve seen worse. Overall a bargain and a course you can play with a preferred lie here or there.
Found the sand at Azalea Sands
Front greens were perfect back nine good just not the same as the front 9. Overall great condition and friendly staff!
Good place to play, but not as lush as it used to be
It’s been over a decade since I last played here and I remember it being beautiful and it’s still very nice but not as nice as I remember. The clubhouse is very very nice and the staff was Very nice. I remember the carts used to have monitors on them that showed you your yardage and I think let you order from the clubhouse but they don’t have those anymore. Overall it’s a very nice course, not what it used to be but still very nice
Pace of play
The pace of play was terrible. 20 minutes at least between each hole. It was way overbooked and there was no ranger out to help with playing time.
Enjoyed layout.
The course was challenging with the water hazards and sand traps placements in the spots that made things difficult enough for this golfer. The main improvement I would like to see would be signs directing golfers to the next tee box. At times we were confused as cart paths crossed and there were several directions we could have gone. Overall a good challenge from our group which played from the white tees.
I’ve played better, for less
I feel a little partial because we all have ‘bad’ golf days. I had a bad day today. However, here are my observations:
The tee boxes were extremely hard. My plastic tees were bending as I was trying to stuff them in the ground to the appropriate height, to no avail.
A lot of debris on the course. Ex.. branches, (waiting to be burned?), pine cones and needles, etc.
The greens were super hard and VERY fast. Very sandy as well. Not sure when they aerated but must have been recently. I prefer spongier greens.
Staff was great and very friendly.
I felt like this was more of a $30/round course vs a $55/round
Great Staff
I played this course. It was busy and the starter sent me out on 10. At one point a guy behind me got mouthy about me being there. The staff was wonderful. They asked me what was going on. I told them. Twice he came back out to make sure I was doing OK. Then I met a couple who were wonderful. The staff went out of their way to make sure I enjoyed the round.
Fox Squirrels
This is a very decent golf course. The staff is very friendly, professional and helpful.....BUT: Don't feed the fox squirrels! (GRIN)
Disappointed
Really disappointed with the course for the money given it was my first time playing it. The greens had sand filled in to make them appear more polished, and the fairways had elevated sod that hadn’t been tamped down while trying to replace and repair the fairways. Understandably this is normal maintenance but it really impacts how the course plays. For the money, it didn’t feel worth it.
Little Bit of Paradise
Wow, we were so lucky to have picked this course to play on our trip to Myrtle Beach. If we ever go back to Myrtle Beach we will definitely golf again at Azalea Sands. We are from Kansas, we are used to elevated greens and 20 mile an hour winds. This course was fantastic, I golfed my best game ever at Azalea Sands. I golf on the women's league in Kansas. This course was just what I needed. It's a short course, fun to play. I'm not saying it's an easy course, there are some challenges. You must give this course a try.
Back to the Future
This was the first time I’ve played this course in many years. It was as much fun as I recall it was the last time. Had a great time.
Sand man greens
Well front nine just sanded today to correct growing pattern of grass on greens. Which rids green of thatch was not informed b4 start of round something the starter should inform u of and he just started 2 months ago so my guess unknowledable about the particulars. Also the back and front nine have been switched aroubd but our gps still rrads the course the other way so bushnell which i have the golf watch was reading course differently u til we figured out. Also starter or pro shop should tell u. All in all fairly easy course shot an 81 Enjoy ur round
