Eagle Nest Golf Club
About
Located in Little River, S.C., Eagle Nest opened in 1971 and was designed by Golf Course Architect Gene Hamm. The layout is laid out across 250 acres of gently rolling land, rare for a course near Myrtle Beach. The course has been upgraded recently and includes a set of "Perch" tee boxes that play over 8,100 yards, making it the state's longest golf course.
Super senior and player-friendly tee boxes up front have also been installed. This traditional low country layout features not only rolling undulations in it but mature Carolina pines, an abundance of wildlife and beautiful natural landscaping.

Course and people were great. Portable toilet during renovation was disgusting.
A nice average golf course
Price was very reasonable. The fairways were in good condition. The greens were in good conditions but very slow. Bunkers were unraked with lots of footprints. Clubhouse toilets were being renovated so only portable toilet’s available. Some interesting holes but mostly flat and straight with few hazards so not many risk reward shots. Great choice for an inexpensive practice round.
below average experience
The course is nice. Conditions were good. However, pace of play was terrible. I never understand why there are individuals helping with bags, a starter, but no one monitoring pace of play. We were a 4 group. 5 hours round and could not finish last 2 holes due to darness.
Fairways were a big shaggy and uncut. Greens were fast but bumpy a bit. Interesting layout. I would replay with better conditions. Friendly staff.
Great '70s era layout
They claim to be able to stretch it out over 8000 yards but why? Played whites at 6400. The last three holes are indeed the hardest on the strand. Water only comes into play on those. You can really bomb driver on most 4a and 5s. 3s are rather short except 18 which can play 260 (!) Staff was very friendly and will respond to slow players if you inform them of it. Fairways in great shape for November and greens (also excellent) have tricky undulations. Bunkers can be very penal so watch out. Definitely gonna play Eagle Nest again soon.
A Grand Strand Classic
The course was built in the 70’s and is classic with lots of dog legs and water to challenge you. The course was in fine condition but the greens had been recently punched which is why I gave it a four rating. The 16th and 17th were excellent finishing holes and very challenging. It was packed with over 200 players so the pace of play was slow. Overall I enjoyed my round here and will come back in the future.
Sanded greens.
The course was in decent shape, my only problem was that the greens were sanded.
Everyone was pleasant and helpful, but as always, there's that one employee who acts as if their title as starter makes them king.
I liked the layout of the course, 17 and 18 were the most enjoyable holes.
Fun clean organized course to play
Not a very hard challenging course but great scenery and well run.. from the minute you get to the parking lot they are unloading your clubs, checking you in for your tee time.. starter calls your name, explains the rules of the course and you’re off.. pace of play was excellent and Marshall rides around to see to it…wish there wasn’t as much sand but just bad timing on playing it becuz they recently aerated the greens…we had an early morning tee time so noon or afternoons would be a better time to play… greens still rolled very well and were in great shape… fairways were fine also… good deal for the Buck and the finishing hole is where you should take your group pic… A+ to the staff….
Course was good cart paths were terrible Marshall kept everything moving a lot of hills so sometimes we got hit into
Nice fair course
For the most part this course has nice wide fairways. A few holes have water in play to be careful. Played on the fall. Course was in good shape. Recommend for average players.
Awful staff
Booked 1:42 tee time , got there early loaded up and on cart by 1:30, the started waived to come down so I tell them are name and tee time and he says we are waiting for 2 more. I said it’s just 2. He then says 4 some at 150 can go ahead of us. I questioned it so he pointed his finger and yelled at me explaining he can do what he wants !! Ladies stay away !!! Will never ever golf there again !!!
Great Value
I don't ay as much as I would like so this is not an expert analysis.
I thought the course was great.
Clean and well kept.
Greens recently ariated and bunkers in good shape.
I played as a single and noone pushing behind me and noone directly in front of me so played at my pace which I believe is rare.
Love the GPS on the carts too.
I'll be back soon for another round.
Everything was great except...
Except for the lady in the club house at check in. Late in the season and had just aerated the greens. Some areas had recently under gone ground work, and there was a lip around most greens. 4.7 out of 5 if that lady was off that day. Course will be spectacular in a couple years.
