Glen Dornoch Waterway Golf Links

About
This beautiful facility is located on 270 pristine acres at the North end of the Grand Strand. Blessed with a unique topography and large mature trees, the course meanders down to the inter-coastal waterway with scenic vistas to distract you at every turn.
This 6900 yard Clyde Johnston design is owned and managed by the same group that developed the fabled Heather Glen links and the service you have grown to expect from this organization is evident the moment you drive up to the clubhouse. Give this course a try the next time you vist the Myrtle Beach area. You won't be disappointed!

Good Time as always
Course did have a couple of light grass spots but always a treat.
Glen Dornach - great course - poor customer experience
Staff at course was not helpful at all and ornery at best. Only saying “don’t do this, don’t do that” and not providing ANY relevant or helpful information.
Golf course was in good shape, greens were in very good shape and ran really true and fast. I would recommend the golf course - be prepared for rude interaction prior to playing the course.
If you want to spend 140 bucks, spent 10 more and go to Thistle up the road.
We arrived and the staff was nice enough. The guy inside was ok the ones at bag drop were cool. They tell us they are over seeding and it is cart path only as we go to head out on 10 since 1-9 was being done. This was 3 hour first nine. The Ranger came by a couple of times and the last time we saw him he said we could ride 1-9 our back nine. Please Thisle the day before and River Hills the day before that. Both were in great shape. This corse was not worth anywhere near $140.00. I got a hot deal thank goodness and was $89. With that in mind Thisle was $91 the day before on a hot deal. It was not worth the money.
Love the course
The course was in great shape and the staff was friendly and helpful. My husband especially likes the views of the waterways and boats. Makes him 'easy pickings' on some holes!
Course location
We weren't really sure what to expect since my partner and I had never played the course. I really like the layout and the course was ain absolutely great shape. The fairways were manicured and the greens rolled true. It had some stunning views of the intercoastal and the staff was extremely friendly. I would definitely make it one to add to our list on return.
Challenging Layout
Have driven by this course for years and have wanted to play it and finally did today. The layout is beautiful and very challenging. There are several forced carries. Some of them relatively long. And the course is relatively tight. The 18th hole has a beast of a forced carry unless you take the safe option which leaves more than a 200 yard approach over a hazard. There are about 5 holes built on the intracoastal waterway, including the last 3. And the marsh is constantly there. However, I thought for the price of $77 despite the layout the conditions were just ok. The greens were pretty good. Smooth and about the right speed. The tees were pretty beat up and thin or bare on about every hole. And the fairways were just ok. The whole player kind of feels old and warm down. You are pretty much paying for the intracoastal views. The course actually starts out relatively easily. Relatively short and open par 4s and a par 3. Then it begins to toughen up with more doglegs and forced carries. The front 9 ends with a par 5 ending on the waterway and a long par 4 running parallel to the waterway. The bag is much tougher. Seemed liked a forced carry on almost every hole. The last 3 holes all have the waterway in play. It’s a really tough course for an intermediate golfer like myself. It’s probably worth a play just because of the layout. But it won’t be a regular on my list bc it’s not a great value. I payed $32 less the day before and got better conditions at Brunswick Plantation. However, did not get the wow factor that you do at Glen Dornoch
Awesome
This course is an absolute must play everything from the bag drop guy to the man who’s name is Tom working the front desk was very polite and super friendly. The course was in beautiful shape and would play it everyday if I could. If your not sure about spending a little extra money on a round a golf I promise you the memories you will get from this place will change your mind! 10/10 recommend.
Aeration
I play this course when I visit SC. Haven't played golf in Myrtle Beach area in July in a long time. I didn't know this is aeration time. I know it's a necessary evil to aerate but I wish Golfnow would mention that BEFORE I commit to a tee time. I'll be back in September and look forward to nice greens.
Worst golf experience maybe ever
Played this course man times but... They lied about course conditions when booking, the greens were the worst I have played in 10 years. The bag drop was very disrespectful. Would not bring juniors here
Loved it but not for beginners
A fantastic challenging course with many carries , layup and even a few where do you hit it shots. I loved it but brought a few novice golfers and they didn't enjoy the challenge as much. I can't wait to play again
Disappointed
Course was not what I expected for a course to charge the amount charged, liked the layout and greens but a little disappointed I rest of course condition!!
Three great finishing holes, but that's about it
Glen Dornoch is a tired facility with run down amenities and is a bad value for the money you pay. They sell you a pathetic small bag of range balls for $7 and in order to save on the fact they don't have enough golf carts, they tell you that you can't drive your cart up to the range area. I've never heard of this being done anywhere I have ever played! The bathrooms on the course are in rough shape, and the cart path slabs have some serious ruptures/bumps. The saving grace are the holes that face or parallel the intercoastal waterway, and generally the layout is pretty challenging.
Outstanding must play course
Classic layout that has held up to the passing of time.
A pleasure to play and conditioning was superb!!
Bucket list
I have been wanting to play here for 30 years and finally got the chance and it was beautiful
