Located in Little River, S.C., Eagle Nest opened in 1971 and was designed by Golf Course Architect Gene Hamm. The layout is laid out across 250 acres of gently rolling land, rare for a course near Myrtle Beach. The course has been upgraded recently and includes a set of "Perch" tee boxes that play over 8,100 yards, making it the state's longest golf course.

Super senior and player-friendly tee boxes up front have also been installed. This traditional low country layout features not only rolling undulations in it but mature Carolina pines, an abundance of wildlife and beautiful natural landscaping.

Friendly staff, fun course, greens were slow but seems a lot of courses are this time of the year.

Great layout

I am a 7 handicap and my wife is 23. We really liked the layout. Sometimes on a lot of course the holes look the same. Not here. Good golf test for me from the blue tees and my wife from the yellow tees.

Good course and looks to be getting better.

First time playing here, course was in good shape, but you could tell it's going to be even better as they were working on the course. Over all I would recommend this course and will be back on future vacations.

Hidden Gem

I'm calling it a hidden gem because it seems off the beaten path and it wasn't busy on a Thu evening, but I'm an out of towner. Played a twilight round as a single and had to rush a little to get all 18 and get the cart in by 7:45, but it was a great experience nonetheless. Really neat layout. Gentle handshake straight-away Par 5 to start and then a tough, but beautiful finishing Par 3 over a huge pond with a fountain. (All carry) Positioning is key from the tee as there are quite a few severe dogleg holes but generous fairways. Greens had been recently aerated but still rolled great. If I lived in the area I would def make this a regular spot. If you want a laid back vibe on a nice course that won't break the bank I'd highly recommend.

Great layout

The course has a great layout with holes designed to challenge your skills. Shot making is crucial to score well. Slight drawback, slow greens.

Greens too slow

We knew the greens were aerated within the last month but they weren’t cut recently and were really slow and bumpy. The rest of the course was great for the $$ and liked the layout. Pace of play was just ok.

Something Different

Eagles Nest is a great and interesting layout. It's fun and challenging from the Blue tees with a rating of 72.3 and a slope of 130. Since we are from Scottsdale AZ, this was something different. For my eldest son's college graduation present, he asked if we could go golfing someplace different. Not the usual AZ & CA places we go but something like Hilton Head or Myrtle Beach, we chose a week long golf trip to Myrtle Beach. We had a great time the course is great, I highly recommend it.
