About
Set in the heart of the Grand Strand's Lowcountry plantation area, Indigo Creek is laid out through large oaks and flowing creeks, especially the back nine, though the views have been somewhat spoiled by housing. The course is built over an old rice and indigo plantation with some nice elevation changes, lakes, waste bunkers and undulating greens. It's a Willard Byrd design, with Bermuda greens and a slope rating of 128.
Indigo Creek is another of those Myrtle Beach-area courses that fell into a disreputable state only to be saved by a new ownership group. One golfer who'd had a bad experience there described it after the refurbishment as the best-conditioned course in Myrtle Beach.
Indigo Creek isn't overly long at 6,744 yards (the shortest of its four sets of tees shortens to 5,921. It is an exciting course with an significant number of doglegs, bunkers and water. The back nine is set among giant oaks and gently flowing creeks.

Low Cost - Fair Conditions
Tees & Fairways in fair condition. Most greens in fair to poor conditions. Although crowded, pace of play was just over 4 hours. Challenging layout with lots of water. Many doglegs. Cart staff very friendly.
Sort of "get what you pay for" regarding overall course conditions.

Awful fairways
They continue to say that they are improving the course but the fairways are full of weeds and bare spots for over a year.
There is no water on the course and no place to fill up water bottles.
No rangers or cart persons.

Used to be a nice course
Been playing this course for over 15 years. It's sad to see that is has gone downhill so much. They appear to have abandoned course maintenance, with fairways and sandtraps in rough shape - lots of weeds, mud, and bare spots in most. Many of the greens were more dirt and mud than grass.
They also let groups go off of both 1 and 10 all morning, which killed our pace of play.. We finished the front nine in 1:45 , only to have to wait on the 10th tee for 30 minutes behind 4 other groups. THe back nine moved so slow that we saw 2 groups ahead of us give up and go home. When we expressed our dissatisfaction, we were told it was our fault for playing too fast.
This used to be a well maintained and well run course. Not anymore.

It could be a great course
The layout is great. Lots of challenging holes with some great obstacles to overcome.
The issue is upkeep. The green had a ton of water burn and the fairways were very dry. The rough was almost none existent and 50% of the bunkers did not have rakes.
If they invested in the course it could be really nice.
Unfortunately for them there is too much competition around to warrant going back.

Great value through GolfNow
I’ve played this course many times over the years and it has often suffered from lack of maintenance especially with problems of burst/leaking pipes. Happy to say on this occasion that seems to have been resolved. The tees are not over flowing with grass but the other ‘weeds’ provide a ‘green’ cover. The greens were the best we have played this week and we have played the Big Cats at Ocean Isles which were in,my opinion worse than bad. See my reviews of Panthers and Tigers. I used to play this course in tandem with Indian Wells just across the Highway but sadly that is now closed and overgrown like many other courses on the Strand😔. Apparently the projected plans for yet another housing development have been shelved and the course is now overgrown 😡. How the local residents who campaigned vehemently against the development feel now I shudder at think.
As for Indigo, it is well worth the $’s to have a pleasant round on a course that is, at the moment, in good condition although the fairways could do with over seeding for better growth!

Terrible shape..no grass on most fairways, dry dry dry.. greens were spotty ..some had grass and some boy grass at p
No money being out back into this course which is too bad ,.worse course we ve played in MB. Would NOT go back.

Majority of greens and 100% of the fairways need attention. Nice layout, a lot of potential, good value for a $40 price point
