TPC Myrtle Beach, designed by Tom Fazio with assistance from Lanny Wadkins, opened in 1999 as the Grand Strand's 100th golf course.

Set south of Myrtle Beach in Murrells Inlet, the golf course features an abundance of bird life and natural wetlands, which come into play on 11 holes and pine trees frame many of the holes. Tom Watson proclaimed TPC Myrtle Beach an "interesting challenge and a quiet walk in nature."

Disappointing

I understand the need for maintenance that drops the course condition for a week or two but the issue lies with not knowing until you pull up to the first tee and have already paid your green fees. The tee boxes, fairways, and greens were so subpar for a TPC course that major discounts should have been offered. I will not recommend this course to anyone else. So disappointing

Sad condition equals disappointment

The condition of a TPC course is expected to be as close to excellence as possible but the TPC of Myrtle Beach was in awful shape and deserved super reduced green fees. Yes, plugging and sanding is necessary but no notification before standing in front of the starter. From the tee boxes to the greens and fairways were so subpar even for a few days after the maintenance. Fairway grass was rare. The putting was true directionally but speed was terrible and unpredictable. The third of July seems like exactly the wrong time for this and not telling customers until the first tee is dishonest and disappointing

Tough but fair

Generally wide fairways. Some holes visually deceptive. Driveable par 4 is always fun. Course was diversified and made you think. As a 20+ handicapper, many holes are parable but snowmen are lurking….

Great course

Loved the course however greens have recently been aerated and need another week or two to recover. Otherwise course in decent condition.

Ok round

The course was wet and not great. The greens were terrible, had crab grass, weeds, twigs and leaves all over them. Cart paths were terrible, cracked and full of pot holes. Not a great value for the money with this course. They charge some kind of tourist fee as well and when i mention the price quoted by GN they just shrug and say too bad lol. Whatever. Also, their cancellation policy is not great. I've played the course a few times, and I doubt ill be back.

Fun layout

Enjoyed the course. The course was in good shape. We did read a review about the bunkers not being in the best shape and I agree with that. Tee boxes, fairways and greens were in good shape. We got a deal for $120 at 1:30pm. So for $120 it was not a bad deal.

Great course but slow round

Well conditioned, beautiful course. Unfortunately rain caused cart path only and slow, frustrating delayed round. Need your A game.

Very nice course - but the bunkers are poorly maintained

Played here for the first time May 19. Used Golf Pass points and a monthly credit to shave almost $50 off the discounted GP rate. Thanks GP!!

Sent out as a single 1:30 on a beautiful Tuesday afternoon. Easy checkin. Practice/warmup area was top notch - but the bottom/flat areas in the practice bunker were essentially hard pan. I figured that was a function of location and the amount of traffic. I was soooo wrong.

TPC MB is a very nice course, quite challenging - especially the longer par 4 holes. The course felt/played longer than the ~6,200 yards white tees presented. Grass areas were all in good/not great condition, but it's understandable given the lack of recent rain.

But the bunkers were (are?) a massive weak point that takes much away from the experience. Yeah, bunkers are hazards, places you shouldn't visit. But the bunkers I visited were virtually devoid of sand except on the sloping faces. The member I ended up playing with said the bunker condition is a recurring problem, apparently (strangely?) ignored by the superintendent and grounds crew.

All the employees I encountered were friendly and helpful. All in all a fun play - but move some sand! There's a beach a few miles away!!!

Great experience

First, the course was a little tough. But that is a reflection of the world junior golf championship that was held the weekend before we played (on Monday). Apart from that, the course was in outstanding condition. The staff was very helpful, friendly and professional. When back in Myrtle Beach we will definitely be back.

Not what I expected

I want to start by saying the staff was fantastic to deal with. They were so helpful and welcoming!

The course, however, was not what I expected for an almost $200 round. Most of the cart paths where under construction and we couldn't ride on most fairways, so it made it difficult to navigate. The course was very wet and really hindered play in some spots. The bunkers were not fun to play out of, probably due to the recent rain. I envisioned beautiful white fluffy bunkers, but it was more like hard packed mud. I also thought that fairways and greens would be pristine being a TPC course, but they were not. The practice facilities were great to warm up on, and again, the staff was great.
