Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon - Legends Course
About
Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon offers two 18-hole championship courses, the Legends and the Champions. Nestled in the foothills of the San Gorgoncio and San Jacinto Mountains, both courses have a scenic landscape that offers stunning views. The Legends Course is the newer of the two but it provides just as challenging a game as the Champions, which is a PGA Tour favorite. The Legends twists and turns through the winding elevations, demanding accuracy throughout. Like its sister golf course, there are numerous steep-lipped bunkers treacherously placed along the greensides. The rough is also tall, thick, and unforgiving. The tricky par-3 fourth hole is played from the highest point on the property. From the tee, the canyon seems more intimidating but the wildly sloped green is where the challenge begins.

Good course!
We picked the wrong day to go golfing. No fault of Tukwet, it was just extremely windy. Overall it’s a good course, if you get off the fairway, expect to be in trouble. The greens were being seeded, but still roll pretty well. Looking forward to going back in the next month
Wide Open but Greens will Challenge
Fairways as wide as the 405 freeway, you feel embarrassed if you miss one. The real challenge is fairway bunkers, green-side bunkers and the greens themselves. Smooth and FAST, with so many subtle breaks and influences by the hillsides and gullies, they are difficult to read and putt. You can hit a downhill 15 footer 10 feet past if you aren't careful. Walk around the hole every time...or get surprised!
Will definitely be back.
Slow.
We caught up to a four-some with a child that would walk/run behind the cart by the 5th hole. They were playing 17 minutes a hole and we never saw the marshal so it was pretty miserable.
Really nice course!!
We played the Legends course and it is in very nice shape. They didn’t do any reseeding on any of their two courses and because they don’t need it. The course, both times I’ve played it, was in great shape! It’s layout tests you. I highly recommend this course.
Challenging
Great looking course, fairways had too many bumps, pot holes. Sand traps only have 1 rake. Cart gal ran out of supplies at 10am.
Great shape
First time playing. Fairways and greens were great. Pace of play was good. I would play there again.
course conditions
greens: 7/10; better than average
fairways: poor; needed to move ball frequently to find grass to hit off
fairway bunkers/greenside bunkers: poor; thin sand/dirt; lots of rocks
pace of play: average thanks to a marshal who did his best to keep play moving
Course was very wet. Pin placements were brutal but greens were rolling well. Driving range was closed. Overall good experience and I would play it again. Pace of play was outstanding.
Tukwet Legends
10:20 tee time in a heat wave is pushing it a little, but on the other hand you have the course all to yourself! The Fairways were decent, the rough not to bad. The green's decent, consistent speed about a 10 which isn't bad for a hot day. Drink lots of water. All in all I believe it was a good day!
Tukwet Legends on a Tuesday
Was good day for a solo round. Course in very good condition. Pace of play was excellent. Started at 10:40 AM no cart person but otherwise enjoyable day. Bar food and beer was a excellent value. Friendly staff as well Shot 80 from blues today.
Great treat to play either course.
Usually pretty good
This is a pretty nice course. Therr are some issues though. The course in the morning is like a swamp in a lot of areas. Bunkers are usually lakes filled with water or muddy like wet cement. There are no ball washers anywhere so be sure to bring a towel to wash your ball off. The halfway house is never open and since you don't go back by the clubhouse, you may get lucky and the beverage cart might have some food once in a while. Pace of play is usually pretty good but if you go on a day when there is a tournament, expect to play a 4 hour round or more. The Marshall's are usually pretty good about letting slow players know to hurry up or let people play through though.
Lazy
Played the legions was very unhappy about the GPS for flags not being set....back nine all wrong..You have to manually go to each green and set flag location for GPS every time you reset flag....so if a flag is in back but was in front the day before and you do not set it with satellite or it will still read the day before location...just mad because I played this course a lot and this day I happened to leave my range finder at home but was sure I could use their GPS as it is set to the flag....only it was not....you know like Yucipia Valley used to do all the time when they had flag location GPS.
nice course... poooor staffs
back to this course in years, course is still nice and in good shape. could have been better with any staff smiley and greeting. will come back for it soon.
Two great courses.
I love this course. But I had to take one star away from my overall rating because they don’t have ball washers anywhere and they need to replace the spike brush at the bottom of the stairs that go up to club house. The bottom bristles are gone!!!!
Good but a challenge
Nice course, in great shape. Greens firm and fast. Traps a bit closer to dirt than sand and not anywhere you want to be. Some fairways were pretty tight and it didn't take much of a miss off the tee for the ball to be gone into the brush. Rough pretty thick in places even not far off the greens - I think a bit too challenging for the average player. Expect a challenge if not highly accurate with your shots.
Legend coutse
Nice course and long. Well designed , greens can be fast when there is wind.
