Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon - Legends Course
About
Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon offers two 18-hole championship courses, the Legends and the Champions. Nestled in the foothills of the San Gorgoncio and San Jacinto Mountains, both courses have a scenic landscape that offers stunning views. The Legends Course is the newer of the two but it provides just as challenging a game as the Champions, which is a PGA Tour favorite. The Legends twists and turns through the winding elevations, demanding accuracy throughout. Like its sister golf course, there are numerous steep-lipped bunkers treacherously placed along the greensides. The rough is also tall, thick, and unforgiving. The tricky par-3 fourth hole is played from the highest point on the property. From the tee, the canyon seems more intimidating but the wildly sloped green is where the challenge begins.

Tukwet Canyon, Legends Course
We had a last minute change in playing venues as we woke up to find a touch of frost on the car windshield and a temperature hovering around the 38 F degree mark. No big deal, in Canada, that's still T-shirt weather.
We had a 10 AM round booked for Oak Valley but we arrived to find the gates & course closed so we took a quick drive across the freeway and low and behold it was business as usual at the Morongo GC Tukwet Canyon courses. Whoo, hoo, the day wouldn't be lost. As has always been the case on previous visits here, a super fast check in with the ever attentive and friendly pro shop staff, the cart was loaded up and we were off to the races. The recent clubhouse and pro shop renovations didn't go unnoticed. Upon completion of the Champions course in pretty good time, we checked back with the clubhouse and took advantage of the replay rate of $27.00.
Having played here numerous times over the past few years this 36 hole layout has never disappointed and todays visit was no different. Superb practice area, large tee boxes, fairly good course conditioning, spacious fairways, manageable rough, elevation changes, deep bunkers, excellent greens and great routing that utilizes the layout of the land. With very little traffic on the course we played the Legends 18 in good time, 2 hrs 55 min. An excellent day of golfing both the Champions and Legends courses in just shy of 6 hours.

Good course design
The layout of this course is very good but was in preseason the day we played. I would recommend this course to players of all levels.
first time on course
Conditions were really bad. Trash everywhere. Dead plants and grass. REALLY ugly course.. Good News through I shot 79.with 2 doubles.
CHALLENGING COURSE
Had fun on this challenging, varied course. Great variety of holes. Found greens very tough because of the undulations, plus they were fast. Only complaint was the lack of sand in traps.
The staff in the pro shop were very efficient, and our server in the restaurant was super.
Overall, a great day!
Windy Day
Played the Legends course on Monday March 5th and the wind blew the entire round. Some gusts up to 20-25 MPH. Course itself is in pretty good shape. Some fairways and greens show evidence of frost damage.
course conditions
greens are very fast and hard, almost impossible to stick and stay. The day we played the greenskeeper must have been mad at golfers as the pin placements were brutal. It was a challenge but well worth the money we paid
Legendary course
Great experience. Great layout. Quick round. What's not to love?
Thjis used to be one if the gems in the IE
Two challenging tracks. I played the Legends side. Morongo used to keep these courses in great shape. Now? Not so much. Most of the bunkers have no sand. NONE! The course has obviously not been overseeded in quite a while. The fairways are a mixture of poa anna and dormant Bermuda and dead spots. The greens have some sort of weed infestation that, in some greens, has taken over completely. However, these courses are still some of the most interesting tracks around in a great setting. If they get the courses back in shape they could easily charge well over twice as much as the $40 green fees. Still, at $40 it is one of the best values out there. I wish they'd spend more money getting the golf back in shape instead of improving an already impressive club house. Come on, guys! Let's put Morongo back on top of IE venues. These tracks can easily rival any of the $150+ courses in the desert.
Worth It
Some of the best golf staff.. only complaint was the threesome I was to be paired up with cancelled.I was sent out as a single with 8 foursomes in front of me. and 6 foursomes behind me. not much the staff could do.
The course has really slipped maintenance wise.
Tees are still very sandy. Played on a Wednesday and maintenance people were everywhere and wouldn't get out of our way. The course has defiantly slipped on all the little things that make a course great.
Fairways need some attention but otherwise a positive experience.
Interesting course layout.
The only complaints are paying for range balls and lousy sand in bunkers.
...not much fun...
we played a foursome on the Legends course with horrible wind conditions and the greens were not in good condition...they ran very slow putting and were badly tramped with spike marks and divots no one bothered to fix. Will not return.
Poor course conditions
The course was generally in poor turf condition. Bunkers were in horrible condition with a lot of small rocks and pebbles in them. The greens were poorly maintained with many ball marks not repaired, but the worst example was on the 18th green. It was covered with droppings from the coots that populate the lake next to the 18th green. And on top of the poor course conditions, the wind was up, blowing consistently from 15-25mph. Not a fun day.
