Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon - Legends Course
About
Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon offers two 18-hole championship courses, the Legends and the Champions. Nestled in the foothills of the San Gorgoncio and San Jacinto Mountains, both courses have a scenic landscape that offers stunning views. The Legends Course is the newer of the two but it provides just as challenging a game as the Champions, which is a PGA Tour favorite. The Legends twists and turns through the winding elevations, demanding accuracy throughout. Like its sister golf course, there are numerous steep-lipped bunkers treacherously placed along the greensides. The rough is also tall, thick, and unforgiving. The tricky par-3 fourth hole is played from the highest point on the property. From the tee, the canyon seems more intimidating but the wildly sloped green is where the challenge begins.

course conditions
greens are very fast and hard, almost impossible to stick and stay. The day we played the greenskeeper must have been mad at golfers as the pin placements were brutal. It was a challenge but well worth the money we paid
Legendary course
Great experience. Great layout. Quick round. What's not to love?
Thjis used to be one if the gems in the IE
Two challenging tracks. I played the Legends side. Morongo used to keep these courses in great shape. Now? Not so much. Most of the bunkers have no sand. NONE! The course has obviously not been overseeded in quite a while. The fairways are a mixture of poa anna and dormant Bermuda and dead spots. The greens have some sort of weed infestation that, in some greens, has taken over completely. However, these courses are still some of the most interesting tracks around in a great setting. If they get the courses back in shape they could easily charge well over twice as much as the $40 green fees. Still, at $40 it is one of the best values out there. I wish they'd spend more money getting the golf back in shape instead of improving an already impressive club house. Come on, guys! Let's put Morongo back on top of IE venues. These tracks can easily rival any of the $150+ courses in the desert.
Worth It
Some of the best golf staff.. only complaint was the threesome I was to be paired up with cancelled.I was sent out as a single with 8 foursomes in front of me. and 6 foursomes behind me. not much the staff could do.
The course has really slipped maintenance wise.
Tees are still very sandy. Played on a Wednesday and maintenance people were everywhere and wouldn't get out of our way. The course has defiantly slipped on all the little things that make a course great.
Fairways need some attention but otherwise a positive experience.
Interesting course layout.
The only complaints are paying for range balls and lousy sand in bunkers.
...not much fun...
we played a foursome on the Legends course with horrible wind conditions and the greens were not in good condition...they ran very slow putting and were badly tramped with spike marks and divots no one bothered to fix. Will not return.
Poor course conditions
The course was generally in poor turf condition. Bunkers were in horrible condition with a lot of small rocks and pebbles in them. The greens were poorly maintained with many ball marks not repaired, but the worst example was on the 18th green. It was covered with droppings from the coots that populate the lake next to the 18th green. And on top of the poor course conditions, the wind was up, blowing consistently from 15-25mph. Not a fun day.
Enjoyable course
Enjoyed playing this course. Interesting layout. Not the usual highly manicured golf course surrounded by houses. Greens could have been a bit better. On the whole staff very friendly and helpful. Food excellent value. Would recommend and look forward to playing again
Great value for money
This track has a very interesting layout and design, and the views are spectacular. However, by the looks of the maintenance, the course seems to be in somewhat of a state of disrepair, including bunkers with low sand, bumpy greens, barren fairways and tee boxes. With a little bit of work this course has the potential to be in great shape, you can certainly see that. However, at the prices this course offers, the value for money is still very high and I would certainly recommend this course for its great value!
Good value
I got a great rate on golf now and this course is well worth the trip from the Palm Springs area where at this time of the year golf prices are at a premium.
The Legends course is a really interesting layout with a great variety of holes requiring the use of almost every club in the bag from the blue/white combination tees. The fairways are generous and well kept and the greens receptive and quite quick . My only reservations about the course are some of the tee boxes are quite worn and some of the bunkers need more sand.
The staff are very helpful and friendly and the facilities are excellent with a newly remodeled lounge with really good beverage prices and selections for the after round beer.
Solid course
A fun and challenging track that has some long par 4s from the blacks. The greens read true and rolled well (10.5), though some were slightly beat up. My only knock on the round was that there was no starter and I never saw a Marshall once. A group that had a half-hour later tee time jumped in right behind me after teeing off and was a pain in the butt about pace of play. Even though I finished the round in 4hrs behind a foursome that would not let me play through.
Great day
They joined us up with another two sum, and had a great day golfing. We are booked for a another game next week. If you haven’t played this course I highly recommend it.
Super day at Yukwet!
The staff was extremely helpful and paired us with a lovely couple from B.C. We had a beautiful day and pace of play was terrific. It was not windy on this day so it was a great day to play. It was a great value for the price of our hot deal. Greens were a bit bumpy and plenty of gopher holes to avoid but we thoroughly enjoyed the day.
