Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon offers two 18-hole championship courses, the Legends and the Champions. Nestled in the foothills of the San Gorgoncio and San Jacinto Mountains, both courses have a scenic landscape that offers stunning views. The Legends Course is the newer of the two but it provides just as challenging a game as the Champions, which is a PGA Tour favorite. The Legends twists and turns through the winding elevations, demanding accuracy throughout. Like its sister golf course, there are numerous steep-lipped bunkers treacherously placed along the greensides. The rough is also tall, thick, and unforgiving. The tricky par-3 fourth hole is played from the highest point on the property. From the tee, the canyon seems more intimidating but the wildly sloped green is where the challenge begins.

Tukwet Canyons Legends course

Fun to play!

but 3 holes still closed (7 thru 9)... Have to drive backwards from 18th green, takes ten to fifteen min golf cart ride to start on 10th hole to play back 9... though I'm glad they have the back 9 open at least, can't wait till they fix this situation...

Legends course is washed out, they only let you play 6 holes, or 9.

Legends course is washed out, they don't even mention it on Golf Now or their website, played their and paid for 6 holes, didn't even know. Wanted to at least play 9 after we found out and then they charged us another 25.00 dollars a player.

BEWARE You will Only get 6 HOLES to Play!

Golfnow is not stating that I could see the limitations. however this is why all these cheap tee times. I called the course directly and found out that you only get to play 6 holes. Its too bad this happens and Golfnow does not protect its consumers.

WASTE OF TIME

I booked a tee time for the Legends course on 2/3 for 2/10 @ 8:42AM. We show up on 2/10 around 8:15AM and to get a bucket and check in. Well the dude at the Pro Shop tries to act like he doesn’t see my reservation even after I show him the Golf Now app with my tee time for 4 players. He then proceeds to tell me the bridge is gone on hole 7 so we can only play 6 holes but “some guy” was supposed to email me and tell me my reservation was canceled due to this. I checked my inbox and junk folder and of course don’t find ANY email from anyone stating this issue. He then tells me “I don’t know there’s nothing else I can do some guy was supposed to email you”. No hey sorry we messed up no NOTHING. We drove almost an hour from our house on a Saturday morning to play there!! And because of this issue the earliest tee time they had on their other course was almost 3 hours later. We leave the golf shop, gather ourselves, come back in and say okay we want to play the 6 holes. He then tries telling me it’s going to be $25 a person and the EARLIEST time he has is 11:54! WHAT IN THE WORLD. We wasted our entire morning dealing with incompetent “Pro Shop” workers. So we left and were luckily able to find an earlier tee time than what they offered at Yucaipa Golf Course. I really like this Morongo course but i’m NEVER coming back again after this horrendous experience.

Course Feed Back

I used to really enjoy this course. The overall condition of the course is pretty bad. The tee boxes don't really have any grass. The sand traps are hard and full of rocks. Some of the greens were ok but most were in bad condition. Overall, I won't be back any time soon.

Overall ok for the money. Conditions gone downhill vs years ago. Brown spots, muddy uneven terrains. It used to be much better pre Covid.

Wrong time of the year?

We came in on a Tuesday thinking the bar and restaurant would be open. So we showed up early to grab breakfast and a drink. Come to find out those parts of the clubhouse are only open on the weekends. So we played 18 holes starving.

There’s no sand in the bunkers. It’s just hard packed dirt with pebbles and rocks. It’s evident that anyone hitting out of these “bunkers” were hitting pebbles rocks on to the greens.

The backdrop of the course has been taken over by hundreds of half built homes. It looked more like a construction site rather than a golf course. This course has a prestigious history but it’s currently an underwhelming experience.

No starter on legends or marshalls

Played legends and the greens are not good, bumpy, rocky, nobody fixes divots. Fairways are ok, not great. No marshall out there to advise that my group got hit into 4 times for no reason. My group was exactly on pace. Nowhere to go cause a group in front of us. If you decide that you ho play golf on a playoff weekend of football, you may think twice before playing . Its not gonna be a quick round starting at noon. Stay home and enjoy the day. Group in back of us was golfing like their hair was on fire. Also sand traps are a mess.. millions of rocks.

Nice Travk

Enjoyable layout (except for hole 2). Good for any handicap. Course in good condition for winter. Greens decent. Need some work in sand traps and could be cleaned up a bit. Overall, we quite enjoyed our round.

Nice layout, but needs a little work

Haven't played here in over a year. Course was in good shape for winter, but the bunkers need some sand and work on them. Played most of them as ground under repair, due to their condition. Several tee boxes were pretty chewed up. Enjoy the track and fairways were in good condition. Greens were fast with plenty of undulations.
