About
Angeles National Golf Club is the only Nicklaus Design course in Los Angeles County. It is tucked away in the Angeles National Forest. This championship course is known for being one of the area's most challenging with tough greens that are lightning fast and more than 50 strategically placed bunkers. There are also two lakes and a creek that come into play. Golfers should be prepared for long par 4s and demanding carries over ravines and barrancas. Not only is it a golf course that requires length, you'll also need accuracy. Angeles National Golf Club finishes with a par 4 that plays from an elevated tee alongside the rushing creek that edges the left of the fairway and to the right of the landing area there's a deep bunker. To the right, the green is bordered by deep grass hollows and bunkers and there is a lake to the left.

Mismanaged course
This course has such great potential. DO NOT PLAY ON THE WEEKNDS UNLESS YOU ARE OKAY WITH A 5 HR ROUND.
Course is mismanaged. Cant get anyone on the phone, they take their last tee time at 2:30. No sand in the bunkers, trees hanging down on cart paths and rude staff aside from the kind guys who are working the shop in the mornings and Joey. They are lucky to have these guys otherwise the course doesn't justify the price. Sad as its a beautifully designed course.

The GPS Is Terrible
Driving on the cart path to the 3rd hole tee box, the cart locks up, doesn’t move, backwards or forwards. Called the Pro Shop at 2:30 phone is answered by a lady who is working remotely. Told her my situation. Asked her to send out a another cart and gave her my cell#. No return call and no cart was sent out, had to walk holes 3-9. I wanted to get a refund for the cart, but the pro shop was closed and locked at 4PM. Found out that this also happened to another person two groups behind me.

Challenging course
The course is worth the money with the exception that most other premium courses don’t knick

Golf For Chumps
There's nothing worse than feeling like a chump and if you don't feel like a chump after playing Angeles National, you have a much higher threshold for pain than I do.
My regular group ponied up the $170 because every other decent course in the area was booked, we really wanted to play and, well...we're chumps. To add to the chumpiness, I paid another $14 for a medium bucket of balls. That's right, $184 to play and warm up.
As has been pointed out in other reviews, there's almost no one working there. By our count, 2 people. The snack shack was open intermittently and there is no cart girl, despite it being in the mid-90's. My buddy has diabetes and had to stop playing for a while to avoid heat stroke. We also counted 16 signs before the first teebox telling us what NOT to do or what is not available (uh, putting green...). Welcome to Angeles, Chumps!
I do not know who owns Angeles these days, but it's obvious they are either a) milking the cow or, b) deliberately trying to run it into the ground (for what reason I don't know). It's a shame because Angeles is actually a good, challenging layout. Think about how nice it would be if they actually bothered to fill up the lakes.
Book another course early. Don't be a chump.

Slow and under construction
Half the tees were being worked on. Loud machines and lawn mowers constantly. Very slow groups in front of us.

Stay Away!
Way over priced. Played on a Saturday - 97 degrees and no water on the course to drink and no refreshment cart on the course. Only good thing was the pace of play was fast because nobody wants to spend $170 to play at a course where they actually feel annoyed that you showed up to play.

Still one of my favorites
I just love this course. Plays fair. The tee boxes are nice and flat. The greens are also good if not for some golfers who do not fix their divots. Overall, love the course.

Always a treat to play Angeles National
I moved here (LA) from Seattle a few weeks ago and have been playing here since I arrived. I play here every weekend. Wish there were more membership opportunities. I'd join.
The pro-shop staff and maintenance staff are super friendly and it shows they care. Nicely done.

Golfers, some awareness please…?
I think this is a fantastic course. I don’t know if there needs to be a Marshal or if golfers are capable of doing this themselves but on the front nine, we were behind a foursome with two cameramen. A still photographer and a videographer with a drone. It was for a private “club” that posts content on Instagram. They were delay swings for “cool shots.” This put us behind pace by 33 minutes. Absolutely obnoxious and shouldn’t be allowed on a course with green fees this high. Also, several golfers were playing bad music from speakers in their carts. We don’t want to to hear your bad music. Wear headphones if you need to listen to bad music when you’re golfing. Come on people, the course is hard enough!
