Angeles National Golf Club is the only Nicklaus Design course in Los Angeles County. It is tucked away in the Angeles National Forest. This championship course is known for being one of the area's most challenging with tough greens that are lightning fast and more than 50 strategically placed bunkers. There are also two lakes and a creek that come into play. Golfers should be prepared for long par 4s and demanding carries over ravines and barrancas. Not only is it a golf course that requires length, you'll also need accuracy. Angeles National Golf Club finishes with a par 4 that plays from an elevated tee alongside the rushing creek that edges the left of the fairway and to the right of the landing area there's a deep bunker. To the right, the green is bordered by deep grass hollows and bunkers and there is a lake to the left.

Not a fan. Nice property, but fairways thin and greens that bad combination of don’t hold, but slow when rolling putts. Can’t remember playing a course where more seemingly good shots end up being bad. Humps and bumps on fairways and greens take the ball to unexpected places. Not sure if greens are simply closely mowed fairways...but virtually impossible to delineate what’s a green when you are out in the fairway. Cart gps screen is borderline obnoxious with pace of play admonitions as you sit waiting for the group in front.

Nice layout; great course; poor service and vibe

Loved the course; you need to hit the fairway or you are punished. Greens can be challenging, but not devastating. Beautiful views. No amenities. Customer service non existent. Too expensive for the poor vibe.

Unfriendly Staff, doesn't match with high cost!

Staff make you wait until 20 minutes before your tee time to issue a cart. This matters because the range is a solid .25 mile walk from the course, and without the cart, it's not really worth it to go there and warm up with clubs in tote. Then, when I did get my cart, the group behind me was upset because we weren't already at the tee ready to go; this wasn't our fault. The starter had to come out and clear this up. Clearly the staff there have policies that don't make sense. The course has enough golf carts to accommodate everyone; the rule seems silly. Other than that, the entire facility is closed except for an outdoor snack shop. Putting green is closed, too. Seems weird since they are open elsewhere in Southern Cal! The course is fun, the layout is neat. The fairways are bone dry, and unforgiving. If you're a good ball striker, you'll love it. If you aren't - bring about a dozen balls. Green roll true. Not worth $170 to have a weird, rushed opening, and absolutely nothing else on premises. Play elsewhere 3+ times for the same cost, with much more to offer!

Worst Valued Course in LA

This course is the worst valued course in the county. It is the most expensive public course in LA aside from the $300 at trump, but they are less accommodating than almost any other course that comes to mind. The driving range was closed without notice. Chipping and putting greens are closed despite every other course opening. Its cart only, they are extremely restrictive and there are no signs for the geofence. Even being aware of the dormant grass season, the tee boxes were chewed and unever, fairways were mediocre at best and the greens are barely faster than the LA city courses. They seem to be deliberately understaffed and there was no sign of a marshal. I asked to speak to the head pro but they dont have anyone with any decision making onsite so “you can email ownership”. If i did I’d suggest they sell to someone with some business sense. The fact i feel this way after playing well tells me i dont need to go back

*** Take your money elsewhere ***

Was a long time customer of their until recently. Double booked a tee time (for the same day at Angeles) a couple of weeks ago. I called to request a refund, they didn't pick up their phone or return my voicemails. When I spoke to them (Chris, starter) on the day I was playing... I was given the runaround and was told to email (confirmation@angelesnati…) them for a refund request. After 8 days and several followup emails, have yet to get a response from them. For what they charge ($120), you would expect better customer service. Forget these guys... play elsewhere... they don't deserve your business.

Poor condition for premium price

The course is in rough shape. Fairways are extremely dry and brown with dirt spots in places. Greens are poorly maintained and also show a lot of dirt and poorly repaired divots. Tee boxes are uneven and the grass is too long. Sand in bunkers were decent on top but too hard underneath. This course hard enough without being in bad shape. Could be a great course. Not worth half of what I paid.

The fairways are very hard and the grass very short, resulting a extremely tight lies.

It's expensive for conditions. However, as a result, tee times are more readily available than many other courses.

It's a long walk to the driving range, and carts are not made available until 30 minutes before tee time.

Open the putting green.

The phone system was broken making it impossible to pre-order food from the course before the turn. There should be a direct phone number to the restaurant. That said, the hot dogs are very good.

Too much for too little

I was expecting a bit more for the $170 green fee. It's just a very basic layout. Nothing fancy. Fairways are super tight and very firm. Almost hardpan like. Don't expect to take many divots. There is no rough. Basically it's fairway and penalty areas. Same around the greens. No rough. Everything is firm and shaved down. You can actually putt your ball off of the green if you are not careful.

Horrible value

I was convinced by my golf group to give this course a shot again since tee times are hard to come by. My buddy booked the reservation and paid. Paying $160 per round I would think that (like most courses) you get at least a small bucket to warm up. Not here, full charge. During my entire round I did not come in contact or even see a single employee at this course. No Marshall, no drinks, nothing. Bottom line, this course is grossly overpriced. For this price you should be getting something comparable to a Palm Springs or Vegas course experience... but really you get the LA treatment...meaning nobody gives a hoot. Condition is decent but not worth it by a long shot. AND, It looks like since we played here in January they decided to increase their prices by another $10. Total greed move, not worth the price of admission.

Not worth a buck 75 to play this course

Played on March 20, 2021. Paid $172. The round took 5:20. Not a marshal or ranger in sight to direct the foursome two groups ahead to let others play through. One unfriendly staff member in the pro shop. I made my tee time on line. They had no record of it. The sandwich shop closed at 3:00 so we could get nothing at the turn. No beverage carts. An overall terrible golf experience. I will not be back. Avoid this place unless you enjoy paying big bucks for a terrible experience.

Course is in great shape

First time playing this course not a low handicap but course was in great shape as far as maintenance and tee box’s fairways bunkers and greens were just top tier. Was disappointed in the amenities like clubhouse closing early not able to grab food or drinks. No cart girl driving around. For the amount of money you pay to play should be a lot more amenities can hopefully experience some normal golf without Covid
