Angeles National Golf Club
About
Angeles National Golf Club is the only Nicklaus Design course in Los Angeles County. It is tucked away in the Angeles National Forest. This championship course is known for being one of the area's most challenging with tough greens that are lightning fast and more than 50 strategically placed bunkers. There are also two lakes and a creek that come into play. Golfers should be prepared for long par 4s and demanding carries over ravines and barrancas. Not only is it a golf course that requires length, you'll also need accuracy. Angeles National Golf Club finishes with a par 4 that plays from an elevated tee alongside the rushing creek that edges the left of the fairway and to the right of the landing area there's a deep bunker. To the right, the green is bordered by deep grass hollows and bunkers and there is a lake to the left.

Nice course only 25 minutes away
I believe this course is a gem . I played at a peak day and time and I paid a premium ($156)
About worth it too . I think this course is beautiful and a challenge. Greens have a nice pace and fairways are manicured. The sand is a bit thin in a couple of bunkers .
My only complaint would be all the garbage in the surrounding wash and environmental areas. Burnt golf balls and debris seem like a good thing to remove when you have such a beautiful course . Overall great place though .
Hello and thank you for your 5-star rating, u000006808112! We're delighted you enjoyed your round. Please book another round with us soon, and thanks for choosing Angeles National Golf Club!
Currently a poor value
With the COVID restrictions in place there should be deeper discounts available. Obviously there is a skeleton crew working, no marshals to monitor play. The computer scorecard was malfunctioning. The fairways are dormant and brown. No shuttle to the range and limited carts available. I won’t be playing there again until all restrictions are lifted unless price is discounted.
Hello, ScottDavid. Thank you for taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass along your feedback to the staff. Thanks for visiting Angeles National Golf Club!
Disappointed
Played here plenty of times years ago and always remember it being in great condition and 4-4.5 hours pace of play. Maybe just bad time of year but conditions were not good. Pace of play was horrible took 5 hours and 10 minutes to complete round. Definitely not worth $112.

Great Course But Almost No Amenities Available
Played 7:10 on a Tuesday morning. Course in good shape even though the fairways were over seeded. Challenging course with super fast greens.
Snack bar was not open till 10am and no cart beverage service. Couldn't even buy bottled water.

Terrible overall experience
My overall experience with this golf course was terrible, I booked a tee time about a week in advance but due to COVID, we had a family medical emergency that came up so I tried to reschedule our tee time the night before. I got some serious attitude from the person on the phone because of their "48-hour cancellation policy". You'd think during a pandemic they'd be a little more understanding. I tried calling again in the morning to talk to someone in the golf shop who could actually make a decision and no answer for 4-5 calls. I sent an email, the night before, no response. Talked to the online chat, no response. Seems like they just wanted to take my $260 of tee time money. I ended up coming a few days later since most the other courses in LA are booked up and I can see why this one still has availability. The golf course is average overall, but certainly not worth the 130-150 you're paying depending on the time you're going. There is hardly any grass, and it feels like you're hitting off hard ground on most of the fairway. Stay away from this course if you have any uncertainty at all about your tee time because they just don't care at all about anything but money.
Thank you for reviewing the course. Let us first start by apologizing for the poor experience you had during your visit. The current condition is by no means the standard we strive to achieve, and we are working towards getting things up to par. Thank you for playing Angeles National Golf Club.
Beautiful challenge
I really enjoyed the natural/desert setting of this course. The layout presented a challenging but fair test. You do get some interesting bounces sometimes. I feel like I will need to play it a few more times to get my landing points down. The blue tees kept this 6 index player on my toes throughout the round! I'll be back...

Not worth the money
Not worth the money. Can’t charge 100+ for this. Get real

Pace of play versus cost
Awful pace of play for the cost!!! No Marshals around to move people along! Not worth the price
Hello, Phillip2192322. Thanks for the review. We see you rated the course 1 star. We take single star feedback very seriously at our course. We will let the team know. Thank you for playing Angeles National Golf Club.
First time playing and it won’t be the last.
Angeles National Golf Club was one of the courses that I anticipated playing. I am a newer player, started playing about 7 months ago. I play about 2 rounds a week with a driving range in between so I am basically a golf addict at this point.
I’ve played at Sherwood which I consider one of the best courses I’ve played to date. I also play at Brookside, Montebello, Santa Anita and Wilson as well. All good to better courses. Angeles is definitely in between Sherwood and Brookside.
The course is well maintained especially with the season of winter that we played. It’s a great place to play if you want to be challenged and want something a little more “plush” than a muni golf course. The greens and fairways are very well maintained - to the best of what could be done at this time. Yes, the fairways are hard and the greens run fast (especially in the morning) but it’s also the price you pay for the time of year and the challenges of a COVID induced budgetary world.
Basically I think that you get what you pay for here. The value is good considering that at the price of $102 it includes the cart. You are about a $30-$40 price difference when you compare other courses of note with the golf cart included. Personally, that’s probably the difference in wanting to choose this course which is far more superior than other courses.
The layout of the fairways are somewhat challenging but also wide. There are several hazards such as washes, ponds, and bunkers that require you to have good iron play and a little bit of course management. But the fairways are pretty open for the most part and I like that fact that most of the holes are straight ahead with maybe one or two dog leg holes.
The course is beautiful. Period. With the backdrop of the mountains and hills of Sylmar and with the course layout, my group was constantly positively commenting throughout the round.
The course is pretty strict about teeing off on time and also pace of play. It was rather a downside that the message on the golf cart that we were running 5 minutes behind schedule was constantly reminding us and at some point became rather annoying. We were delayed primarily because of the golfers queue ahead of us that we running behind. Hope they can take that into account and not bother us with these constant messaging.
Other than that it was a pleasure to play a round here. We definitely want to make this a course that we will continue to play from here on out.
Thank you for your review, u654056989. We will pass along your positive experience to our team at Angeles National Golf Club. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

A great course
This Nicholas design course is spectacular. The geography and the beauty of the surroundings are unsurpassable. They do have Bermuda grass on the fairways so they do go dormant in winter, and the greens right now and winter are quite hard and very fast. But it is still a fantastically fun course to play, and on the website they let you know that in fact it Bermuda grass is Doorman so there should be no reason for anyone to complain

Rate increase, bad conditions
They raised the green fee $30 due to covid and the entire course is dead.

Like playing on concrete
This might be the worst value of any course in California and that including the Hot Deal. Found myself aiming for the rough to have any grass to work with. Fairways are hard dirt covered with dead brown grass.. Green are firm and roll well but it felt like you are punished when ever you hit the fairway.

The conditions were miserable for how pricey the round was. Fairway played like dirt. Minimal grass. All brown. Quite disappointing.
