About
La Cantera Golf Club opened in 1995, when it also hosted one of the oldest PGA Tour events, the Texas Open. It is no wonder the spot was chosen, with its numerous natural water features, mature oaks, and limestone rock outcroppings it provides the perfect terrain for a challenging round. There are also 75 white sand bunkers strategically placed throughout the golf course. In combination with the spectacular views provided by the course’s elevation changes, the course has quickly gained favor as one of the best public-access golf courses in the country.

Awesome!!
It was our first time in San Antonio. La Cantera was recommended to us by a colleague. We thoroughly enjoyed the course, and all amenities. We enjoyed it so much, that we booked to play there again the following day. The staff were all amazing! Highly recommend this course!!
Wonderful find while visiting area
Played a spontaneous round after finding tee time on Golf Now app. Wonderful experience from bag boy greeting and assistance in Parking lot to check-in to starter to staff in the turn snack shed. Was a cold and windy day but every staff interaction was exceptional. Course was in very good shape for a cold January day. Greens were very good for weather and time of year. Fun layout. Will be back whenever in the area.

Course conditions were great!
This course was in great shape with an amazing layout. The only negative was pace of play. We had a group of five that were playing from the wrong tees for their skill level. It took just short of five hours. I wish the course marshal would have sped them up. It was still a great course!

Amazing Course and Layout
This course has such a beautiful and challenging layout in addition to its scenic views. We had a blast at this course and will definitely be back to play it again !

Tee times too stacked & pace of play is slow
We were put behind a slow group that took 30 min on hole #1. We passed them on hole 2 only to run into a threesome that we’re playing back tees and looking for balls every hole. They had 1 guy in basketball shorts & a tee shirt who kept parking his cart in the middle of fairway so asking to play through while they liked for lost balls wasn’t an option. On top of that once we thought the tee or fairway was clear they would stop with the cart girl instead of getting out of the way and make a purchase. Excruciatingly slow round. The rough was also not consistent as some areas were super thick and overly fluffy inches off the fairway yet mowed and thinner in various sections so you never knew what you were getting from hole to hole. Greens were great and bunkers were very nice. Tee times are way too stacked and there was not a hole where there was not 3-4 groups on a single hole.
