There are three 18-hole courses available at Jekyll Island Golf Club, making it the largest public golf facility in Georgia. The Oleander Course is the club's original layout and still remains the most difficult. It is the local favorite of the three courses as well. Don't be fooled by its seemingly modest yardage, there are plenty of challenges in store. The course features tight-, tree-lined fairways and an abundance of water in play throughout. The layout doesn't seem too tough from the fairways but you'll find keeping your ball in the short grass to be no easy feat and the ability to shape shots will definitely come in handy. The Oleander's 12th hole is the longest and one of the trickiest. This par 4 is completely exposed to blustery winds coming off the ocean and there is also quite a bit of water with which to contend.

Lovely secluded natural course.
Lovely course in excellent condition! We finished in less than 3 hours since virtually no one was playing mid-day. Only trouble was with cart which failed to engage and move several times during our 18 holes. Deer were everywhere and many fawns were gazing at our play.
Great Value
Paid $12 and had a blast. The course was not in immaculate condition (late summer) and the greens were soft and slow for my tastes, but it was still a very fun, playable course. Had a great time.
Greens are in horrible shape
I was expecting a well manicured course and found the complete opposite. The fairways were decent, however the greens were in horrible shape. There were bare spots and fungus growing all over them all. They were extremely slow and because of the bare spots the ball was bouncing all over the place. We were very disappointed.
the course has great landscape..
some of the greens were bare and had little grass on and it had sand on it. it had some grass that was in need of some cutting , but overall it is a very pretty course . we will play this course again even tho it is a little ways from where we live.
The course needs attention to the greens
The greens were the worst Ive played on in years. The holes were cut in the worst possible places on the greens. The greens were not cut and very slow. Fairways were also very high and hairy
Nice layout that needs some TLC
The entire Jekyll Island golf complex is wonderful, but Oleander lags behind the other two 18 hole layouts, primarily due to conditioning. Granted, the recent rain has prevented much in the way of mowing, so the fairways were a bit shaggy. Also, the greens were sparse. I played Indian Mound later in the day and the course was in better shape, but it seems Jekyll is placing all its conditioning attention on the Pine Lakes course, which looked positively pristine. If Jekyll would invest some time and energy in Oleander - perhaps close the course for a few weeks to allow it to dry out and for the greens to recover - it could be a gem of a course. The layout, which features several short, tight par fours and a few wide open par fives, is terrific. If only the conditioning were up to par with the design.
beautiful course. Greens being aerated so they were a little rough.Otherwise course was in great shape.
Fairways wide open and in great shape. Greens were being aerated for the summer.
Beautiful scenery, terrible greens
It was terribly disappointing for my threesome to play this course with greens that had significant bare spots and aeration holes in them. Tee to green was nice. Greens were awful and no one advised us in advance. We would have played elsewhere had we known.
In good Shape, very open
We enjoyed our day at Oleander. The fairways were a little soft but in good shape.
Great round and great price
Great course in great condition. The staff was friendly and always smiling
The layout for this course is excellent.
The course was challanging and fun. Additionally, the layout among the tall pines, Oleanor plants and lakes make it a wonderful outing.
BEAUTIFUL LIVE OAKS, LAKES, AND WILDLIFE
The Oleander course on Jekyll Is. is a very well maintained course with enough difficulty to make it fun to play. There is lots of wildlife including deer, gators and many kinds of birds such as osprey, egret, ducks, herons, wood storks and much more.
The live oaks are magnificent. A really fun experience. Southern hospitality at its finest.
NIce layout but needs care
This could be a great course but it needs work on drainage and tee boxes were often bare.
the course has great greens
greens were great. fairway grass was lacking. enjoyed the experience, hope to return soon.
Beautiful layout, fairways sparse
For those golfers that enjoy playing along tall, tree lined fairways and enjoy the natural elements (birds, deer, and an occasional alligator) of the wild, then you will enjoy Oleander.
However, grass on the fairways is sparse and filled in with sandy grit. If you are a good ball striker, the grit will pose no problem to your game. To anyone that consistently hits behind the ball, your ability to a score will be hindered.
The greens are fair and well maintained.
The pace of play was great as was the staff. Price was also great.
There were no hassles when we arrived. The staff in the pro shop were very nice as was the starter. The greens were very good however the fairways were not good. It looked as though they were sanded for upkeep. For the price we paid it was still a great deal. Work needs to be done so the fairways will be better later.
Hamburger at the restaurant was excellent.
Nice course for the average golfer. The layout is challenging with above average bunkers and greens. Beautifull scenerey with the tree lined fairways which make you shape your tee shots. One drawback at this time of year (March) is the lack of grass in the fairways. I will be back to play again.
Poor Service
Very unpleasant starter - he had a problem with our reservation? discuss it with the pro shop, don't give us a hard time.
Pro shop staff not at all helpful in getting us tee times - I overheard them going through the replay spiel to others, just after we had been told no times were available. We felt we were second class citizens after their regulars.
Fairways were very heavily top dressed. Very few course markers, maybe we were supposed to buy a yardage book!
Restaurant menu good bad bad, slow service.
Much better courses in the area that cost less when booked through golfnow.
This is the week before a national schools event, so their minds may have been on other things, but that is not valid excuse for the poor service we have received on several trips to this course.
Good also For Winter Golf
Out of Winter Golfing the 3 - 18 hole courses on Jekyll this was our least favorite. It had was in good condition but not as good as the other 2 courses.
It also is not as challenging. I would suggest playing all 3 courses though and making that your determination yourself.
