La Quinta Mountain: #15
#15 on La Quinta's Mountain is laying along the base of the mountains - stay tight to the base and go for this par 5 in two. The green stays snug up against the base and will not be in full view.

Unbelievable course

Course is magnificent. Total eye candy and just as challenging. This is the one course in this area that you have to play at least once

Very disappointing!

Had a wonderful experience here about 10 years ago which is why we came back. Course condition is incredibly poor, pace of play is terrible and staff service is poor. Absolutely not wort $200 a pop. $50 at best. A real shame to see such an iconic location so tired and run down.

Poor value for the money.

We’ve always understood PGA tracks to be superior golf experiences. We booked PGA West, Dye Mountain, as it was a special day worthy of a great golf experience. Our experience was anything but special. We found the service less than adequate. The foursome in front of us included a child 3 to 4 years old riding with his father whom spent most of his time on the phone on business ignoring his child - and no marshall to keep their excessive slow play in check. The course was in surprisingly poor condition. Not good value for the money.

Great course, shame no showers/towels

99% is amazing. Lovely course in good condition. Aim for the front of the green because they are very firm and I didn’t as much spin as usual. Greens were slower than expected but that’s no bad thing.

The only downside is off the course. I’d driven from LA so wanted a shower after the round. Every nice course I’ve ever been to has towels provided. This course doesn’t which was a really downer as I drove back quite smelly!

So take your own towel and it will be a perfect day.

Great Course but slow pace of play and lack golf ranger

I enjoy playing the Mountain course. Even though you tee off the first hole when prior group on the first green the pace of play is always slow . There is never a ranger on the course encouraging those slow golfers to speed up. This continues to be a frustration with the course mgt.

Great course first time playing everything was great tee boxes on the par 3s a little rough but other than that highly recommend this course. The starter had a great attitude which is a plus gets you off and running with a smile. Unlike a few other courses I have played in the are.

Not worth full price

Cool course great views. No range right now, greens are rock hard and flood damage around course. I figured other reviews were being a bit extreme with the green conditions but they are right. No need for a divot tool and aim for the front of the green. Even with that info good luck holding them

Pretty good

A lot of foursomes but pace of play went pretty well. Greens are still slow from all the rain and will take time to repair, but fairways and roughs are still terrific as always. Driving range won’t be open for two more week due to rain damage.

Pete Dye Mountain Course is a mess

I haven't played the Pete Dye Mountain Course in years. Now I remember why. The hole designs are brutal. The design is to take the ball away from the hole every chance it gets. There arre few misses allowed. You are penalized for good shots. Not fair . . . . It's just stupid. This is a golf RESORT. Getting your braind beat out is no enjoyment. A difficult golf course should not be a stupid.onr. Check out PGA WEST Nicholas, Stadium or Norman. Or Indian Canyon South or Silver Rock all are much fairer. You'll have a better time.

Not worth full price right now

No range, rock hard greens and flood damage. Fun scenic course but conditions are not what would be expected at full price. Get a deal or an afternoon rate. Pace was great until 16 but still played in under 4:30

Got a tee time off the app and so it was a great deal.

I like the course a lot though it is challenging. Only one green that is not uphill. Fun people and a good time.

Was expecting better greens

Challenging course, high handicapper will find it difficult as all greens are elevated, lots of false fronts. Back nine incredible front nine not as picturesque. Greens do not have deep roots, lots of gravel when fixing ball marks. So greens are a little long and fuzzy. No GPS on carts, would expect that for this price point.

Over priced. Too difficult.

This is a very expensive course, yet they don’t have GPS screens in the carts…and as this is a Pete Dye course, there are hidden hazards throughout. Without the GPS, too many misplayed shots.

Driving range was closed due to repairs…that happens but they could have done something to compensate for that (a free sleeve of balls).

There are several beautiful holes on the back, but the front is unexceptionable.

I wouldn't go back this year.

Currently no driving range or chipping area do to flood, so don't show up early as there is nothing to do.

Greens are new and are rock hard, you hit the middle of the grean it will not stay on.

Lots of ground under repair from the flood.

Back nine is in great shape minus the rock hard greens.

No GPS on carts

Mountain course

Interesting course design. Holes 1, 3, 9 have lots of ground under repair. Range is closed. Crazy new greens will improve as they age to get more receptive. Green speeds were good and smooth. Slow play was unfortunate. Some unreasonable hole placements and hole demands for a first play of the coourse.

Terrible new greens. Condition and new design.

Everyone should wait to play here for two to three years and let the new greens settle and soften. They are currently unplayable.
