La Quinta Mountain: #15
#15 on La Quinta's Mountain is laying along the base of the mountains - stay tight to the base and go for this par 5 in two. The green stays snug up against the base and will not be in full view.

Beautiful course, but typical Dye confusion on front nine

The course was beautiful, with the typical Pete Dye confusion on the front nine. First timers should be warned to get a yardage book, as the front nine has craters and bumps that conceal the correct way to play it.

Fairways were perfect, but the greens were ugly and spotty, not up to the same expected standard.

Pace of play in back is an issue

Beautiful surroundings, new greens very hard to hold approach shots. We were doing great pace wise then ground to a halt on #10.

SLOW SLOW AND SLOWER

This course is ALWAYS stacked up and yesterday was worse than usual. At minimum 2-3 foursomes playing on EACH hole. At least an 5-8 minute wait on EACH tee and then more waits to finish it out!!. Unbearable for the money that one plays. The RANGERS do nothing and don't care either. Not sure why you have a 9 minute tee-off schedule, Are you purposely trying to anger the people who are playing for some pretty big bucks? I play a lot of golf courses and this one is the WORST in playing time!!

Very Disappointing!!! Not worth the $$$

Chose to play here because of a past great experience -before it was a PGA West property. What a mistake! Course is in very poor shape. Absolutely no longer the premium property and experience it once was and definitely not worth $200 USD/round/person. It was an embarassment to take guests there.

Mountain Course is beautiful!

The storm that rolled through on whole #7 was ominous yet satisfying. Greens and fairways are both in great condition. One up from the tips played a little long for me and the elevated fronts made it more challenging. Would have like to score better and probable would have from the Senior tees. I would recommend this trac to everyone. Stunning views on every hole. We will definitely be back to play the other side. The Starter and clubhouse crew were all very polite and accommodating.

Poor value for the money.

We booked PGA West Dye Mountain Course as it was a special day for us deserving of a great golf experience. It was anything but. The course conditions were poor at best - and there was no marshall in sight to manage the slow play in front of us. Overall a very disappointing experience and poor value for the money.

Very disappointing!

Had a wonderful experience here about 10 years ago which is why we came back. Course condition is incredibly poor, pace of play is terrible and staff service is poor. Absolutely not wort $200 a pop. $50 at best. A real shame to see such an iconic location so tired and run down.

Poor value for the money.

We’ve always understood PGA tracks to be superior golf experiences. We booked PGA West, Dye Mountain, as it was a special day worthy of a great golf experience. Our experience was anything but special. We found the service less than adequate. The foursome in front of us included a child 3 to 4 years old riding with his father whom spent most of his time on the phone on business ignoring his child - and no marshall to keep their excessive slow play in check. The course was in surprisingly poor condition. Not good value for the money.

Great course, shame no showers/towels

99% is amazing. Lovely course in good condition. Aim for the front of the green because they are very firm and I didn’t as much spin as usual. Greens were slower than expected but that’s no bad thing.

The only downside is off the course. I’d driven from LA so wanted a shower after the round. Every nice course I’ve ever been to has towels provided. This course doesn’t which was a really downer as I drove back quite smelly!

So take your own towel and it will be a perfect day.

Great Course but slow pace of play and lack golf ranger

I enjoy playing the Mountain course. Even though you tee off the first hole when prior group on the first green the pace of play is always slow . There is never a ranger on the course encouraging those slow golfers to speed up. This continues to be a frustration with the course mgt.
