La Quinta Mountain: #15
#15 on La Quinta's Mountain is laying along the base of the mountains - stay tight to the base and go for this par 5 in two. The green stays snug up against the base and will not be in full view.

Hugely disappointing

I was really excited to play here but with the driving range closed and the front nine playing like a bad muni my enthusiasm was dulled. The back 9 was beautiful but overall the experience was not good.

Breathtaking

This is the course you want to play when you come to Palm Springs. It is cut right out of the mountain and each hole more magnificent than the last! The course is tough, but if you play your shots to the right spots, you can score out here. If you only have one round, don't worry about the cost and play this course.

The Mountain Course has seen better days for sure!

One of my favorite courses from coast to coast, however Mother Nature had not been nice to the Valley the past week. Multiple holes had been affected by the deluge of rain. After 17 years of playing PGA West, this is probably the worst I have seen it.

That being said sadly it was also probably one of the most unfriendly visits to the Mountain Course as well. The new management/owner may not have the same customer service mentality that I have always affiliated with the entire PGA West group of courses and staff. I guess times have changed and it is starting to show…..perhaps not always in a good way. #bummer #lossofagoodthing #didn’tseemspecial

When you find a gem like PGA West and have visited it many times over the past 17 years, it brings a frown to my face knowing it no longer seems to be that special place it once was.

However, will I play the course again? Yes. Do I feel it needs to polish a few rough areas to bring the sparkle back to that what it used to be….. A DEFINITE YES. But I have hopes they will soon.

Absolutely stunning!

Beautiful course. Stunning views. Get your camera ready for hole 16. Recent flooding had it not in the best of shape but if your on the fairway you are golden.

Great golf and stunning views

Excellent resort golf course not too long but challenging to play. Course condition have been good from tee to green. Only little negative was the practice which was closed because of flooding earlier in the month.

Avoid this course

This is a pga west course. So it should be top level. It was not. The two women working the pro shop were rude. The driving range was closed, no gps on carts and the course had damage from recent flood and was unplayable on front nine. It smelled like sewage and on some holes you couldnt retrieve your ball due to mud and flooding. The front nine should be closed. The starter was rude and unfriendly. Avoid course no matter the deal and golf now should not have this course as an option currently

Course is damaged

This is usually our favorite course. We redeemed all our GolfNow credits to get $140 rate from probably $200. They are still pumping water out of low lying areas. There is a stench. Shame on PGA West for charging regular rates for a significantly damaged course. The driving range is closed due to damage as well.

A Dye disappointment

The course suffered significant damage from flooding last September. Driving range closed and several areas still unplayable due to water. It smells in several locations. The greens, which I understand had just been completed before the flooding are anything but green, more brown and slow. I think GOLF NOW should have made me aware if these conditions before getting a time. The rate was $142 which should have been no more than half given the above. I’d recommend NOT playing this course till they get the course back into play. Also shocking that the course does NOT have a GPS system on the carts— are you kidding me?? Truly a Dye disappointment.

The Mountain is always a great experience

As I have played the Mountain multiple times, it was again an excellent experience. Course conditions were great in despite of the flooding which happened a month ago, the lay out is varied and challenging without being too difficult and too long. A pity that the practice was closed so we had to start without warming up a situation handled by the reception on a pretty rude manner.

No driving range and course recently under water

Currently the driving range is closed and the front nine are VERY rough since the course was recenty under water. Holes 1 and 9 smell really bad (like sewage?) and much of the fairways are muddy ground under repair. I would wait to play this course until they get things fixed. The back 9 (which didn't have the flooding problem) is beautiful but hard to get through the front 9 with all the issues.

Terrible Course Conditions - Stay Away!

I have played this course for the past 15 years and really have enjoyed it. Great layout, views and playability.

Until this year! The range was closed. No GPs on the carts. We were warned by the starter that there was some water on the course but did not anticipate the stinking mud pits on holes 1 and 9.

The worst part was the greens. The starter warned us that they had redesigned the greens to the original specs. He told us they were very hard and we wouldn’t be able to stop our shots and he wasn’t kidding. Our foursome spent all round driving the ball well and watching our approach shots hit the front and the middle of the greens and roll off. The greens were brown and rough.

The course should be closed until it’s playable. Don’t waste your money on this mess for the next couple of months!

Beware when booking Mountain Course - Bait and Switch

This is the 2nd time I booked mountain and was switched to dunes when I arrived at the course. We were told the Mountain course was flooded and Clubhouse said they sent emails to 3rd party we booked thru (Supreme golf) but nobody received anything.

We had 2 foursomes celebrating a bachelor party and needless to say we were dissapointed when we arrived and were told we were playing dunes and our tee-time was delayed 90 minutes.

Granted the weather was not ideal (30 mph wind gusts), but the conditions of the course was not great. Tee boxes were small and uneven, bunkers had NO SAND in them, greens were not rolling smooth, etc. Back 9 plays more into the mountains and is much more enjoyable than the front, which has some very uninspiring holes.

Very dissapointing experience. Too many great courses in the desert to ever come back here.

Scenic and fun course to play

The Mountain course was an interesting combination of beauty with some risk reward. While the back nine has some beautiful holes, this is also when the course tightens and is surrounded by homes. The greens were all new which made them quite challenging. Speed was up and they were extremely firm so holding a green was challenging. Overall it was a great test and two of us engoyed the two two singles that we were paired with.

Not what it once was

I've played this course each time we have visited LaQuinta over the past decade. The back 9 is the highlight of the course with wonderful views and challenging holes. Unfortunately, the recent redesign has made the course less appealing. The greens were rough and not really rolling true.

We have also had an issue with certain groups playing that will hit into our group even though we are keeping up with and on pace with the group ahead of us. During this round, the group behind us hit into us on 4 different occasions. They stopped once I went back and addressed them.
