Slow and sad

While we love the course layout, the course allowed a single on the course ahead of the twosome in front of us. Hard to truly enjoy a 5 hour round in the heat or any other time. Disappointing!

Beautiful Back 9

Front nine is wide open and right now (early June) the greens are not in the best condition. However the back 9 is much nicer, especially 13-17 and you do not want to miss the vista from the 16th tee box.

Just a shame

Until this visit, the Mountain Course was my favorite course in Southern California. Unfortunately, I may have to stop naming it altogether.

Greens are horrific. Fairways lined with GUR and burned out areas. Inconsistent tee boxes that are not level. Sand was consistent, but green side bunkers should be a bit softer.

Conditions blamed on a heat spell that scorched the greens… but somehow Desert Willow the day before had almost ideal conditions all over the course. Pathetic.

Save your money, wait a while, and see if it improves. I really hope it does because this is an awesome track that deserves better.

Disappointment

We played the course on a reciprocal from our club, what a disappointment. The course was poorly maintained, numerous brown and dead spots on fairways. The greens were terrible., many had very little grass. Had I paid full rack rate for the round, I would have been upset.

Let down

I have played this track many years ago and love the design. The problem is they are not maintaining the course as it should be. Too many burned out spots, greens are atrocious for this level of a course with bare spots on the greens. Not only that but I paid premium prices in spite of it being 107°, that day. With a little work this could be a world-class track again. Pete Dye would be rolling over in his grave right now

Bucket list course

It was a good all round experience....

Had a bit of bfast looking out over the course at 0800 and thought it was going to be very windy but by the time we teed off at 0851 it calmed way down.

The starter gave us a quick rundown of what to expect and strategy for playing the Pete Dye Mountain course.

My twosome was paired with a twosome who had played the course many times so they helped us with the teeshot lines. Very few of our shots held on the hardpan, raised greens (had to come in very high) but they putted true.

Beautiful challenging course

I’ve played the Mountain course over 20 times and really enjoyed the challenge but the last few times have found it very wet and overwatered. On nearly all of my fairway drives my ball had mud on it. Not something you expect in March and April
