Westin Rancho Mirage Golf Resort & Spa - Pete Dye Resort Course

We didn’t come to Palm Desert during Covid. We used to golf at the Pete Dye golf course every time we came to Palm Desert. The course condition was meticulous before and the starter was very friendly and attentive. We golfed at this course three time in the last 4 weeks. The course condition is deteriorating. The pro shop staff were still good but three of the starters looked kind of cold and indifferent. One of them didn’t even inform us the hole 17 was closed for repair and they turned hole 18 into two Par 3. What a pity! This golf course used to be our most favorite golf course in Palm Desert.

Lets people know if the 1st hole is closed for bunker repair

Good course layout and variable difficulties.

The beautiful course, mountain, and sky are perfect.

But, the fairway is in bad condition, and there is a lack of guidance on construction areas.

Played on Jan 8-2024 with my wife we were really looking forward to it as pictures online were stunning. However the fairways were sparse of grass and not like the photos at all The real disappointment was the 17th hole was closed for renovation and nobody said anything. Wouldn’t recommend this course

I’ve been playing this course for 20 years I’ve never seen in such poor shape. Especially considering that they should’ve just come out of the over seating process in the desert where all the courses are imperfect shape.

I have been playing this course for 20 years. 1st time since it got sold and is being run by new owners. I was appalled that when a desert course should be in its best shape coming out of over seeding this course looked like it was in the dead of summer shape. Fairways spotty or dead in places, sand traps inconsistent. Greens were the only bright spot. The 17th hole is shut down for some reason, the 18th is two janky par 3’s (no mention at time of booking). I got a hot deal price but even at that I would never play this again in the shape it is in. Buyer beware

Course was only in fair condition. Greens very good, but fairways only 50% green grass. Bunkers in sad condition. One hole was closed for renovation.

Looked like a course in financial stress, not a Westin property!

We played on a Saturday and we’re grateful the course was not full.

Greens were excellent, fairways bare around 30% was brown not green, bunker conditions were mixed and I personally wound up in one bunker that recently had fresh sand dumped in but not packed and took me two shots just to get out.

As of 1/08/23, the 17th hole was closed for bunker repairs And par 4 18th was split into two par 3’s to make the course be 18 holes.

Was an ok day but as we played it, not a premium experience.

The course is great, amenities are great and staff is great. Would have been nice if we were warned that course maintenance was taking place after spending a good amount to play here. The 17th hole is closed and 18 is turned into 2 par 3s. Fairways are patchy but greens were nice.

Would have given a better rating had communication been better about the 17th hole closure and if it wasn’t closed in the first place.

Other than being told they were late on tee times and hole 17 was deleted for hole 18 converted into 2 par 3s the round was ok. The course is a good value. The fairways are currently spotty with short grass and no grass patterns making the fairways rougher.

The course looks very nice, while playing, we found the grass a longer on the green.

There should be a reduced rate for only being able to play 17 real holes!

Great layout but very poor condition. Hole 17 closed and 18 is now 2 par threes. Lack decent signage ; we ran into groups either playing the wrong hole or looking for direction. Shame because there are many great holes.

A typical Pete Dye course, good layout , good greens, fairways were terrible , very patchy and poor condition , and one hole was closed

Not very good value for the priced charged .

Would want some assurances of course conditions before returning to Westin Rancho Mirage

For the price I was very disappointed by the condition of the fairway. Dead spots all over the place. 14th green was under construction and had a temporary green in the fairway. We received no heads up nor any signage. Several bunkers on the back were getting fresh sand but none were packed yet, leaving you playing in deep beach-like sand.

Course is in poor condition, with patchy fairways and rock hard bunkers . Greens are in great condition . Hole 16 is closed , we were not informed of this ahead of time . Par 4 , 17th hole is divided into two par 3’s . Disappointing day . Pace of play was good , beverage cart made a couple of passes on front and back and was great .

Driving range limited , having to wait for a slot , hitting off dirt

Course was in poor shape and neglected, Doesn’t deserve to be associated with the Westin name brand.

Course is in horrible shape and should be ashamed to charge the green fees being charged.
