Westin Rancho Mirage Golf Resort & Spa - Pete Dye Resort Course

This course has seen better days. Layout is so so and many of the signature Pete Dye wood ties/ walls are falling apart at the corners. Course needs to be better designed or it will fall well behind some of the other course including PGA West and Indian Wells.

This course should be closed. They had an issue with their grass and the fairways were mostly dead grass and dirt. Shame on them for not telling customers about this before paying/playing, charging full price, and also not telling anyone about an entire hole being closed. This was the most expensive and least enjoyable round of our entire trip. We feel scammed, since they are still filling the tee sheet every day, with other unsuspecting golfers like us who travelling to Palm Springs.

Played this course many times now they totally destroyed it fairways are horrible as is tee boxes. Greens not horrible but pace of play is walked off after 14 took 4hrs 40 min.

13th hole is under construction. not able to play or record a score for handicaps. This should be noted. Cart broke down. Had another brought out. not good.

Just an excellent course and perhaps the easiest Pete Dye you can find

It’s a middle of the road ⛳️ course - not exciting enough.

The experience was great but the course conditions needed some help, especially on the greens. It was uneven and clearly visible where they missed cutting certain sections/didn’t overlap cuts.

Not a terribly interesting course, generally flat.

I don’t know what’s happened to this course. I hadn’t played here for about five years but a decent price for a twilight round on GN got me here again. It’s sad for me to say this, but I don’t see that happening again. This course used to be pristine. A velvety green wonderland, everywhere, that was exceptionally well maintained. Now, well, it’s just not that. It’s parched, and patchy everywhere. And for the price, I personally expect a lot more. I will say that the staff were excellent at every touch point. Great folks.

The pace of play was awful as we were trapped behind a group of three carts and 4-5 golfers who had no idea of speed of play and golf etiquette.

The greens were very slow and bumpy and many areas were rough and unkempt. This was about the worst experience on a Westin property that I have ever had. Even the driving range was beat up and worn out. This course has seen its glory days fade away. It was a disappointing day on what could be a great course.

Love this Pete Dye layout and wished my game had lived up to it.Should have figured out how slow the greens would be when my first putt on the practice green made it about 1/2 way to the hole. But it's so hard to untrain your brain to hammer putts that would normally travel at least twice as far hitting that hard. That's the only thing bad I could say about the course; otherwise loved it. In fact it rained so hard overnight and the next day that the course closed. I guess that long grass on the green could absorb a lot of moisture. Once they reopen and cut the greens to normal height the course will be just as awesome as always.

Fairways were apparently treated with the wrong chemicals a few weeks ago by a Groundskeeper and are slowly getting back in shape. Some rough spots. Hole 12 green was under repair so we couldn't putt. Beside that we had a good round. Not too busy. At $59 it was great value. If you are paying over $100 maybe look at other courses.

We were looking forward to playing this course. The website looked great and we figured a Westin brand would be great.

Unfortunately, after we checked in, we found out on the range from a "local member" that the fairways were HORRIBLE due to an accidental spraying in the overseeding process. Wow - the fairways looked and played like a local cheap municipal. Burnt out everyone. You had to roll your ball to find a patch of grass.

The more irritating issue came from 2 members who jumped ahead of us while we were playing hole 1 so they could tee off on hole 2 between our two scheduled tee times!!!!! No course ranger to be found. After hole 4, they added another local member who was on his own cart and brought his dog with him. This course is a joke and it's run like it. We quit after 9 holes. I spoke to the young lady in the pro shop who was very kind. She said the manager would call me or email me. You guessed it. No follow up. I would remove this course from the playing list. Too many other great options in the area.

Course condition was fine with green fairways and greens but dead sides that played easy. Went behind some really slow people. Asked ranger twice to help and never did. Good for the price course would play again

The fairways were in TERRIBLE condition! Apparently they somehow screwed up their over-seeding process by leaving some unwanted chemicals in their over-seeding machinery. And it stopped half of the grass seeds from sprouting. It looks more like fertilizer-burn on the ground, so nothing will grow. So all of the fairways are this mottled patches of some grass growing among dead Bermuda grass. Pretty ugly and yet they are still charging full price! I love the course layout, but there are TRULY better places to play at these inflated prices. Avoid this place until next year, I know we will and so will the other couple that played with us.

Very sad to report that the fairways are in poor condition and not up to the usual standards. Lots of bare bermuda patches where the over seed hasn’t worked. That said it’s a great layout and the greens are in good condition
