Westin Rancho Mirage Golf Resort & Spa - Pete Dye Resort Course

I would not recommend this course. All of the greens were destroyed by a poor greens keeper decision to fertilize during the heat wave 2 weeks ago. They are 90% dirt. And they do not tell you at the pro shop. They do not give you a discount. I thought that was a very poor approach. The greens fees should be 1/4 of the actual cost and all players should be informed of the poor conditions.

Got to the course this morning, and as we are dropping off our clubs we are told all the greens were dead because of a mixup at the course. And dead was actually being kind. I will never come back to this course again, or recommend this course to anyone. I had told so matnpeopke over the years to play this course, but never again.

GolfNow should be ashamed for not telling its meme era about this course condition. And the course should be embarrassed about not telling customers until it is too late to go some place else to golf. Obviously both entities are more

Concerned about taking money from customers than doing the right/honorable thing and being honest about the deplorable playing conditions.

Lost respect for both entities stealing my money.

On the way from the parking lot to the clubhouse, the shuttle driver says, “we had a little oopsie and lost the greens in the hot winter. Groups typically take auto 2-putts.”

I get it’s been hot, but wow, they are unplayable. Like they forgot to water them for weeks at a time. They really need to shut the course down for a month and re-seed and grow new greens.

They should tell you this or at least not charge you $100+ to play. I feel duped.

Greens were dead. Should be some type of warning before booking. Have played course before and conditions were excellent last year. No range balls available before tee time. Hopefully better next year when we return.

Greens are a disgrace. They should actually be paying people to play here. Don’t throw away your money.

Sadly, Alice and Pete Dye would be sad to see how poorly maintained their eponymous course is now. Dirt greens, patchy fairways and minimal sand in bunkers make the course unworthy of its designers. Let’s hope someone takes better care of it in the future.

When we arrived they said the greens were rough and to use a 2 putt rule. As we played we discovered every green was dead and brown. Unputtable! There was no prior notice of these conditions with the option of not golfing there. Very disappointed. Not worth the $100 fee.

Also after nine there was almost impossible to get snacks or beer. Went in through the main door and it was a members only lounge with 3 people sitting there. The bartender was 2 busy to serve us and told us it was for members only. I actually felt bad for the staff as I’m sure they have been taking a lot of the complaints about the conditions of the greens.

there was no notice that the greens were totally burnt up with lots of bare dirt/mud sections scattered all over the greens.....no. 13 will probably have to be completely rebuilt.

Tee-to green, the course was in its usual fine condition.

Certainly not worth $101, and very unlikely to improve much for several months .

Usually play it once each year and enjoy the Pete Dye quirks and railroad ties.

The overall condition the course was very poor.

The green putting surfaces were burnt out leaving dirt and a sprinkling of grass to putt on.

The course is in terrible shape and not woth the green fees.

Have played this course numerous times and this is the first the greens have been in such deplorable condition. We were led to believe it was the heat wave and the fact that the greens are Bermuda grass - hmmmm sounds suspicious! We got to the truth - over fertilized the greens before the heatwave and no amount of moisture was going to save them. All 18 greens were like putting on a packed mud surface with divots and cleat marks all over them. I wouldn’t complain if the price had been under $50, but even $99 is way too much for a round here right now! Dye would die again if he saw the condition of the greens!

Worst course I’ve played on in a long time, traps & greens were absolutely brutal.

I played here on March 29, 2026. Upon arrival I was informed by staff that the greens were "chewed up" because the wrong chemicals were applied to all of the greens. Chewed up was an under statement. There is very little to no grass on each green such that you are basically putting through sand and dirt on every hole. The course is not worth the 90-100$ being charged (and this rate was provided as a "hot deal" on GolfNow). Due to the conditions of the greens, I left after the 9th hole as did the other golfer I was paired with. It likely would have been a decent course but for the greens. Call and ask about the conditions of the greens before you book.

But course conditions are excellent, except for every green is basically burnt grass. Almost like playing on compact soil.

All the grass on ever green is dead. It looks like someone sprayed Roundup on all the greens. Additionally, the rough was recently cut down too short and piles of cut grass are laying all around, just off the fairways and off the collars of the greens. This use to be a top notch course when the LPGA player here. Now the maintenance of the course is terrible!

Greens got fried by the heat - it was like putting in the parking lot.

The course has a nice layout and the fairways are in great condition along with most of the ruff and bunkers. However the greens were beyond bad. Burned and bare.
