Seascape Golf Club
About
Originally Rio Del Mar Country Club, Seascape Golf Club is a classic 18-hole layout perched on the coast highlands of the Monterey Peninsula. Opened in 1926, the course was actually shut down during World War II when it served as a “victory garden” to help grow crops for the nation's war effort. After the war it came back with its new name, but old charm. The golf course is just a half mile from the Pacific Ocean, but it's largely protected by Monterey pines and eucalyptus trees that surround it. Seascape Golf Club features well maintained fairways, strategically placed bunkers and small, tricky greens.

Call ahead for course conditions
It's always a disappointment to show up at the course and final the greens have holes (aeration) and piles of sand on them. I guess the course has no obligation to let GolfNow know about conditions so GolfNow can pass them along.
We still had a good time.
Very slow
The course was in good shape but we did not enjoy the 5 and 1/2 hour round. There was a 20 minute wait on the second tee box. An ambassador ( I am assuming a marshal) driving around, but not sure what they were doing? Fortunately, the weather was beautiful. We will not be returning any time soon.
Seacape
Pace of play was great, friendly staff. WAS able to play 36 holes. Second round was only $15. Great deal!
Seascape a very nice play
Although we are in a drought the course was well watered. In fact the greens were soft and held incoming shots perfectly. We made it around in four hours, which was to our liking. Great golf & had a nice dinner afterwards at Carpo's.
Great day in Aptos
Course is in fine shape. Got around without any waiting. Very pleasant.
Tough greens
Bring your A game in putting if you play here. If downhill putting is your fortay. Then this is your coarse !!
Nice ocean side course
The course was in great shape and all aspects were first class for the money. I will return here soon.
Local
I live in the area so play this course fairly regularly if I find a good price. I really like the layout of this course. The course condition though could be improved. Great greens. Fairways and bunkers need a bit more TLC. Overall though we had a great time.
Slow pace for a 1pm tee time
Course was in decent shape considering the drought. Greens were ok but people need to fix their ball marks. Had 3 putts that went off line due to old pitch marks that couldn't be repaired.
Pace was very slow. We started as a 2some and waited every hole behind a 5some and they wouldn't let us pass. We asked the course ambassador for help but said it was backed up but we didn't see a group ahead of them for the whole day.
It was a nice day so all is good.
Good price
Good price. Beautiful course and playing at night is good so on one bothers you
Restored to its glory! An OBX must play.
I've played this course for years and must say I've never seen it in such great shape. I'm not sure what happened but there has been a complete transformation in the course and staff. The course itself was stunning, perfect fairways and smooth, easy rolling greens. The surrounding landscape was breathtaking. The staff couldn't be more helpful or cordial. This course is a must play, if you are staying in or near the Outer Banks! Don't forget to stop by the club house after your round. Michelle's is a great place for a bite to eat and an adult (or other) beverage.
Slow.
Pace of play brutal, had to pack it in after 3 hour front 9. Plus, teed off 20 minutes late.
Great Course!
Wonderful course in Aptos. The weather for us was perfect. The course conditions were amazing. The only bad part of the day was the pace of play. It was pretty slow and the group behind us hit into us 2 times. Surprisingly once on a par 3. When I let the marshal know, he said everyone is hitting into each other and didn't seem to care... this was frustrating. Other than that.... good day!
Drought freindly
For mid July this course was in pretty good shape need to be in the fairway or close to it otherwise you're in the dry stuff or dirt. Greens are good and soft Lots of bite ball checked up nicely
This course is fun to play.
I have golfed at Seascape a few times. Each time has been a fun experience. When ever I am in Capitola I try to make a tee time at Seascape. The scenery for me is beautiful. I am always a single walk on and the players I have been paired with all have been fun and easy to get along with. The staff were all very polite and welcoming. I live in the Santa Clara and I recommend Seascape to those who can make it.
Favorite Santa Cruz area course
Play Seascape a couple times a year on vacation. Always my first choice.
WELL KEPT FAIRWAYS AND GREENS
Some of us go to the golf course sometimes to socialize, sometimes to relax and sometimes to show your competitive side, on this course I believe all is in the menu, the scenery is complementary which leads to complete relaxation and allows one to exercise the purpose of your golfing experience. Met a wonderful couple from Brentwood, Ca who are now friends. If I was to rate this course I would rated it a 9.75 difficult but within range for the below average golfer.
Beautiful course
As always the course was in great shape. The the only downside was the pace of play. But, that seems to be like most courses in the area. Can't complain too much as it was s beautiful, warm sunny day.
Great
Good course and challenge. Enjoyed the day. Will do it again.
Course is Al' ight
In town for a wedding so decided to do a Saturday dawn patrol round. Course has a rep for slow play but I got paired with another single; tee'd off at 6:30am & we blazed around in just under 3 hours. When we finished, there were 3 groups waiting on first tee with plenty of players on the practice green. Short course on the card but the meat is in all the Par 3's. Medium-long in distance with small greens make them difficult to hit. Haven't played too many 18 hole courses that feature the Par 3's as the toughest holes on the course, but 3 of these holes are in the top six in difficulty !!
I would play again at a better rate but for convenience, it worked out just fine.
