Seascape Golf Club
About
Originally Rio Del Mar Country Club, Seascape Golf Club is a classic 18-hole layout perched on the coast highlands of the Monterey Peninsula. Opened in 1926, the course was actually shut down during World War II when it served as a “victory garden” to help grow crops for the nation's war effort. After the war it came back with its new name, but old charm. The golf course is just a half mile from the Pacific Ocean, but it's largely protected by Monterey pines and eucalyptus trees that surround it. Seascape Golf Club features well maintained fairways, strategically placed bunkers and small, tricky greens.

My First 18
I have played a few 9 holes, and most of an 18 at Dela, But this course was Amazing! I even got a par! the weather was off and on, the fog kept creeping up and then would fade away... so i would suggest bringing a sweater just in case! We stopped by the clubhouse after the 9th hole to grab a quick bite to eat and it didn't even interfere with our pace at all! the holes are quiet and beautiful. I can't wait to return this scenic course! Overall fantastic !1
Disappointed
Summary: It took nearly 3 hrs to play 7 holes on a Tuesday in January (I skipped holes 8-9 to get to the 10th). This tends to indicate the course is overbooking and cares more about revenue than the quality of the golf experience. This has happened to me the last 3 times I have played this course and it doesn't matter whether its a weekday, weekend, or holiday. I like the course and staff, but the experience is horrible when you sit for 5-10 minutes after every shot and between each hole.
Favorite coarse
I play more golf at Seascape then any other place, simply because it's a great coarse and always in great shape. The staff is great along with the food. I will be playing there for many more years to come!
Beautiful Neighborhood Course
Well maintained including the equipment. Nice views.
Pleasant Clubhouse atmosphere. Good food with a nice bar.
MN golfer tees up in Apt is CA
A very enjoyable and challenging course. Lots if elevation changes and tough greens.
I will play it again.
Fun course
This is a fun course. Open fairways receptive to good tee shots and some holes a bad one will work just as good. The fairways are pretty ate up right now. The greens are in good condition but are very challenging. They have the most severe breaks of any course in the area aside from blackhorse in seaside. The bar is kindve annoying you have to wait for every local, even the ones who came after you to get a drink. Carts are in great shape. Driving range is borderline awful as well as the chipping green. Overall worth 30$ not any more.
seascape golf
the starter was polite and well informed. the course played well and our friends from Reno liked the course
Friendly working staff on short course
Some pretty holes can be seen throughout the course. I found the Course length too short to be challenging especially 440 and 450 yard par 5s - these holes also had funneling fairways so that errant shots rolled toward the fairway middle.
The course made you feel that you played or scored better than you would on a similar ranked slope rated course.
The staff is very friendly and the marshal actually works hard to improve pace of play
Wonderful place - I'd go back
The course is beautiful and the staff are amazing. The "ambassadors" (not marshalls) are great. The course was pretty dry if you miss the fairways, as you'd expect in the middle of a historic drought. Otherwise the course was in great shape. The fairways are generous but the greens are tough and fast. I had several putts that I barely missed that rolled forever. There are some beautiful holes and the smell of eucalyptus follows you everywhere. This one's a keeper.
good course, dlow pace
they put out too many golfers without any spacing, otherwise it was a good experience
Nice course
Well kept, friendly staff, marshalls could do a better job of moving things along
seascape review
The course layout is great. Staff friendliness excellent. Conditions
1. Condering the drought conditions the greens were great, Fairways were marginal, had to move the ball constantly
to look for grass. Bunkers were very good.
NEEDS Senior tees
Challenging course in a great setting.
I love Seascape. It's kind of my "second-home" course. It's a little pricier than I can afford on a regular basis but I try to play here at least once or twice a month.
Challenging layout will give even the best golfers a good run for their money but still open enough and playable enough for all skill levels to have a fun time.
Greens can be hard given the amount of slope on them from certain angles but they roll true and are relatively soft and receptive. Not overly fast.
When given the option, lay up.. going for it on this course is very risk / reward, but the risks are great.
Slow, Slow, Slow
Course is dry but playable given drought conditions.
What isn't is the pace of play, any round under 5 hours is a miracle....
They need to lengthen out the times between groups to make this more enjoyable.
Slow Play
Well the starter got us on 20 minutes late, by the time we got to the first par 3 there were two foursomes waiting to tee off in front of us. Very slow play. Greens were decent, fairways a little brown and some hard spots. Would have been fine if they didn't get backed up.
Good value.
Good condition. Good value. Located on the coast south of Santa Cruz.
Perfect
We always enjoy playing at Seascape. Well kept course that has just enough challenges. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
This course has gone backwards.
Played here yesterday, a Monday and was very disappointed. I used to play this course almost monthly until about two years ago. Recently I've been playing courses closer to my home. The starter did not get us out until 20 minutes past our tee time due to "working" regulars in before us. Upon teeing off we waited an average of 2-5 minutes before EVERY SHOT the rest of the round! The pace of play was non existent especially for a Monday?? Also, as we finished a few holes and were well into our round when it became apparent that course maintenance has really been less of a priority than I'd ever seen on this course before. It's really to bad because I'd always liked the uniqueness, charm and condition of this course every time I've played here. I saw more brown, torn up fairways as well as many unmowed, long tee boxes. Over, all a 5+ hour round on a Monday, a course that has taken large steps backwards leaves me to play closer to home again on courses that are cared for and pace of play and customer satisfaction are valued. Sorry Seascape I used to love you...
