Seascape Golf Club
About
Originally Rio Del Mar Country Club, Seascape Golf Club is a classic 18-hole layout perched on the coast highlands of the Monterey Peninsula. Opened in 1926, the course was actually shut down during World War II when it served as a “victory garden” to help grow crops for the nation's war effort. After the war it came back with its new name, but old charm. The golf course is just a half mile from the Pacific Ocean, but it's largely protected by Monterey pines and eucalyptus trees that surround it. Seascape Golf Club features well maintained fairways, strategically placed bunkers and small, tricky greens.

Course to remember
No need for driver on most holes, 3 iron 220 is all that's needed. Staff needs to smile more :)
considering the drought, this course was in excellent condition
nothing is perfect these days with water such a commodity, but this course is as good as you can hope for right now and the weather was perfect about 72 degrees.Beautiful course cut in and out through the tall trees,I love the links style were holes aren't back to back and it continues through the the groves of trees.Has some incredible holes really and fun to play.the children selling golf balls reminded me of when I was a kid doing the same thing.....good to see kids out earning money and still living in the real world.
Great course
The course was in great shape, and the staff was very friendly. I will play there again.
Challenging
Great course with good conditions. Each hole had a fun and difficult challenge.
6 Plus Hour Round
Played here in a club tournament that had 5 groups. I was in the first group. Don't know what the problem was but we waited on every tee box. The group in front of us apologized for the group(s) in front of them and advised us that they would be leaving after 9 holes so things may be better on the back 9. Unfortunately it wasn't. We caught up with the group in front of us and once again waited significant time at each tee box (the group in from of us we're also waiting for the group in front of them. Could not see if the problem was that group or a group in front of them. We teed off at noon and drove off the 18th hole at 6:05. If our club comes back, I won;'t play. The course needs to space the times between foursomes.
The lady at the restaurant in the morning was not very friendly. nO greeting. Seems her mind was elsewhere.
My tee time was right after the start of a shotgun tournament.took 5 hours to play 16 holes after which we gave up. Up front disclosure of the tournam
Took 5 hours to play 16 holes after which we gave up ! Should have been disclosed at time of booking !
A fun course for the price
I've played here many times and like the course. The course condition is always the same (ok) and the weather is always great for golf. The people working in the pro shop are usually not the friendliest. I like the course layout
User Friendly, Except for the Greens
I have played Seascape hundreds of rounds. I shot my first 79 there. The course is fun and very playable; except for some over slope on the greens. There are a few Augusta like greens in the summer. I think maybe they make several greens tough just to keep up the slope rating. It is important to schedule a time around noon, or you may end up with a 5 hour morning round. Sometimes there are out of town groups from the nearby resort that slow up the pace. My last Friday tee time at noon played in just about 4 hours.
Beautiful day of golf!
Seascape golf course was absolutely beautiful. My husband and I hooked up with 2 locals that added to the great day of golf. The course was immaculate and many mature trees lined the fairways. Greens were a bit tough and challenging. I would highly recommend this course to anyone visiting the Aptos area. We also enjoyed the wonderful staff and food at Sanderling's restaurant.
Another Challenging Round at Seascape
Always challenging, always fun. This beautiful course can humble the best of them. Narrow fairways and fast greens.
Conditions
The course was in perfect condition. I am currently trying to qualify for the U.S. Open and state one is at Stanford, so I decided to play a practice round at seascape to see how I would I would do. The answer to that question was that I fired off a round of 66 to be exact. I could not have asked for better weather or conditions to play in. I would recommend this course to anyone if they are looking for a challenge and overall a quiet peaceful round of golf. Also, check out the staff in the bar they are great and friendly. I will be visiting seascape in the near future guaranteed. Thank you golf now and seascape.
speed of play
Too slow. Six hour Round. Other than that a great place.
This is a good coastal course
Great course needs to have pace of play a bit faster. Needs to have Marshals speed up the game. Great Location and no water hazards.
Great Day
It was a beautiful day and had a blast on this course. Not too crowded and the staff was extremely friendly.
Good Value for the Money
The only negative comments are that the Ambassador continued to drive-up on players, as well as the "snack cart'" drove up on players...had to wait til both passed. Outside of those issues, golf is in great shape, pace of play was pleasant...overall a great day.
Great course great value
Pace of play was very good, as we were fine in 4 hours. Course looks great, plays well.
Superb Golfing!!!
I live in Sunnyvale and once a month or so I love to go over the mountains into the Santa Cruz area for a day of golf. It's a complete change in the eco system and a pleasant change form the hectic pace of Silicon Valley.
The course is in marvelous condition and the greens...the very best ever. I was joined by a couple of gentlemen who made the round delightful. The only flaw was the front nine...we had a terribly slow foursome and there was no marshal on the course. They let us play through on the tenth.
I've played the course many times and have intention to play it many more times.
great place to play
