Seascape Golf Club
About
Originally Rio Del Mar Country Club, Seascape Golf Club is a classic 18-hole layout perched on the coast highlands of the Monterey Peninsula. Opened in 1926, the course was actually shut down during World War II when it served as a “victory garden” to help grow crops for the nation's war effort. After the war it came back with its new name, but old charm. The golf course is just a half mile from the Pacific Ocean, but it's largely protected by Monterey pines and eucalyptus trees that surround it. Seascape Golf Club features well maintained fairways, strategically placed bunkers and small, tricky greens.

Bad manners
The course was playing very slow and we found out why. On the 10th hole a group was trying to play.6 or 7 people on the course. They had the carts out on the fairway, not allowed on that hole., They had loud music playing. They finally waved us up without getting off the fairway and didn't replace the flag stick. They were having a party, however the rest of us were being held up. Once past the group things went as they should. We didn't see a marshal or starter.
Great Run ... Great Value
My wife and I had not played Seascape since 2007. We lived in Florida, and just recently moved to the San Francisco bay area. So, on July 4th, we went back to Seascape, and I am very glad we did. Since CA is experiencing a drought, all the courses are drier than usual, and I am evaluating Seascape within this framework. But, they were is good shape all things considered. I have always loved the clubhouse. I only have two complaints. The on-course refreshments girl quit way too early. We teed off at 1:16, and we only saw her on the 1st and 6th hole. The other complaint was that there was a wedding happening when we finished, and the clubhouse was mostly shutdown. Would have loved to drop in for a sandwich and drink. But, these two things were timing issues. Just the day we picked. I would recommend Seascape, and we will be back again (and soon).
Beautiful layout
Enjoyed every hole. Very fast greens, challenging pin placements, amazing weather!
Nice course
Nice course in fairly good condition. Starter was 30 min behind by 10 AM and play was slow.
Used to be a great course
Although I live w/i a minute of the course, I rarely play it. My home course had a tourney so I figured I'd try Seascape again. Usually I am very frustrated by the pace of play (4.5 to 5 hours) but I went out at 8am. Our pace was a very decent 3.5 hours. I get that there are water restrictions in the area but some of the middle of fairways were hardpan, like hitting a golfball off an artificial mat. Greens were of average speed but very bumpy w/ some hole edges damaged. I found very few ball marks on the greens had been repaired and few if any divots were sanded. Also saw jeans and t-shirts all over the course (dress code??). Overall not worth the $50-$65 green fees.
Wonderful setting
Beautiful course in great condition. A shorter course but the greens are the equalizer! Do not get above the holes or your looking at a 3 putt almost every time
Seascape on Fathers Day
We signed up to play Fathers Day at a reduced rate through Golf Now and our group consisted of 3 people. There were a lot of people playing but we managed to finish in a little under 4.5 hrs with few delays. The course is in fairly good shape considering the water restrictions in place in this area and the greens are just flat out mean! They are fast and you need to pay attention to what you are doing. The fairways are fairly open all through the course and in decent shape. I would certainly recommend this course for anyone that wants a bit of a challenge and some good scenery.
Seascrape
Good course , difficult greens , you make a mistake you pay for it!!
Aptos Breeze
The course was in good shape. The greens were well maintained and read pretty true. Course layout was fun. Some of the tee boxes were chewed up but nothing to be angry about.
AWESOME!!!!
Absolutey loved this course. Was in the area vacation from Arizona and will be sure to play this course when I come back again.. Loved all the green colors of the course and was in GREAT SHAPE..
Wonderful golf course
I ended up playing two rounds as the pro shop let me go an hour early as there was nobody there to play. I joined three people on the 6th hole. The weather was awesome, the greens are always very very fast and tricky if you end up above the hole. Fairways are a little sparse in places probably due to the water shortage.
SEASCAPE G.C.
greens in great condition. fairways on front nine full of leaves and bark. some greens also.
very difficult, built on he sides of hills. stay below hole.
very slow play.
5 Hour and 40 Min
It takes nearly 6 hours for 18 holes.
Nobody control on course.
fast greens
great pleasant staff. pro was really nice and helpful.
Great ocean Air
This is in a great location with large trees. Some holes are muni-like and others are interesting and more challenging. Overall this is a great place to play, and even better if you can get a discount from Golfnow.com
Loved it !!
Booked online for $29 w/ cart, great deal !! Arrived early, checked in, and they let me tee off early. Joined a twosome, couldn't have been better... Very busy, but moved along ok.... only thing to improve would be to have Marshall "stay" on the slow playing groups... beside that, loved it!! Course in great shape, and the weather, about 80 or so, was wonderful... can't wait to return... thank you, Craig Nolan SJ...
beautiful weather on a beautiful course
Play as a 4some from the back tees. The course was in great shape and the weather was very nice. 3 of us walked the course a one had a cart. The course was full but moved along very well. Great elevations throughout the course with trees all over. The course demands some pretty straight shots on most holes. Putting was pretty tricky with breaks and greens although sanded were fast. Pleasant day on a scenic course. Will play again.
Seascape Pleasure
This course is in great shape. The sloped greens are very challenging, and in excellent condition. Good time to play this course.
Great course, slow on weekends and holidays
This used to be my home course, and the conditions on Saturday were the best I have seen it. Not sure where they get their water, but they seem to have plenty of it. Everything was green and well kept. Clean fairways, lush rough, with clean tee boxes. The greens were a little slow, but very true. Overall the only complaint was the pace of play. 5+ hours is unacceptable for a course of this difficulty. The first par 3 we reached had 3 foursomes waiting to hit with another on the green. Hard to get any sort of rhythm going with that kind of backup happening. I will definitely play again, but probably in the middle of the week in the future.
Discount was NOT "Speical"
Our tee time was at 11:30am ..... Huge backup because of Tournament and we were delayed 45 minutes. Golf now price as $68 ..... special price
from Seascape for tee times after 12noon was $50.
Given I did not tee off until 12:15 I ended up paying
$18 too much per person. I treated my family of
four so paid an extra $72. Lesson learned... never
use golf now within an hour of the special tee time
