Seascape Golf Club
About
Originally Rio Del Mar Country Club, Seascape Golf Club is a classic 18-hole layout perched on the coast highlands of the Monterey Peninsula. Opened in 1926, the course was actually shut down during World War II when it served as a “victory garden” to help grow crops for the nation's war effort. After the war it came back with its new name, but old charm. The golf course is just a half mile from the Pacific Ocean, but it's largely protected by Monterey pines and eucalyptus trees that surround it. Seascape Golf Club features well maintained fairways, strategically placed bunkers and small, tricky greens.

Golf with my lovely Bride! Photo submitted by u849946994 on 03/22/2017
Very slow play. No help from marshal.
6 Hour round. Marshal was more concerned with how many drinks he was bought in the bar than speed of play. Course was fair and greens ran true. Not a long course but very challenging. A little unfair to women. My wife's yardage was only about 200 yards short of mine.
Great course with view of ocean.
Booked a 0745 four-some. When we arrived we were told a scramble was scheduled for 1230 and that we were the last 4-some to start. We were told to start on 10 and reminded to have a good day by a very friendly starter. Since we now knew that we had to be off the course by 1230 we played semi-ready golf.
At the turn at about 0945 we stopped for water and were told to "pick-up" the pace at least 3 times. By the 12 hole, the Marshal was again telling us to pick up the pace and telling us we were taking too long to study our shots. We still had over 2 hours to play 6 holes. At 14 we could see the Marshal watching on almost every hole. We T-ed of and finished 18 before noon for a 4 1/4 hour round with no one even thinking to say thanks.
My point here is that had we known that we were going to be pushed all day by the Marshal we may not have booked that time and if the course does not feel that the last 4-some will not get finished in time, they should not make that Tee time available. But they are trying to squeeze every dime out of the players. Just tell me what the story is and let me make the decision to book or not but if I am booking the Tee time, I assume that I have the right to play a normal round.
excellent greens
I've played the course many times and this is as good of shape as I have ever seen it. the greens are perfect and overall very well maintained
This course has great features. Being close to the beach, there is a factor of wind and fog.
Located in the beautiful town of Aptos which is close to the ocean. The course has many extra large trees on the sides of the course and along the fairways. With being so close to the ocean I recommend that the golfer brings a sweater,
A favorite course, Seascape is near the ocean and has wonderful holes.
Challenging but attainable. Beautiful course near the ocean. Has always been a favorite course for me. If you have not played here, recommend you play. Strategy holes and bomber holes.
Fun!
Very enjoyable to play. Not overly long, but challenging. It was a great value at $36 with a cart. I will definitely come back.
Great weather, great course, & fast greens
This course is a great course to play for beginners. A lot of sloping fairways that help bad shots. The greens are very quick and well maintained.
Great course overall!
This course was maintained beautifully,my puts rolled very true, grounds were very picturesque,Staff was very friendly as well.
Old but nice!
Played this course ten years ago and it hasn't changed one iota. Nice full facility with restaurant and bar.
great location, great value
Although I am a duffer I thoroughly enjoyed playing the course which has a varied terrain and scenic views; the greens are tough rolling in every which direction.
very accomodating and friendly
only downside the range was closed, other than that we were on schedule and even couple minutes early to tee off
Fun course
The course was in good condition. Tough greens but fair. Weather was damp and overcast - my kind of conditions. First time I have played there and it was fun.
good for casual round
easy to hit ball on cushioned fairways. rough not a problem. challenging greens. slow play. always lots of clowns, but if you don't take your game seriously, it's a good place to play.
This course is challenging, with awesome greens and a lot of fun to play.
First time I have played this course. An awesome get away course. Especially from the hot Sacramento summer days.I had a blast. Do youself a favor and get here and try this course.
Course is in great shape
I believe Seascape is in the best shape in years. Fairways were green and the putting surfaces true.
Average in every way
I've played this course many times. When I started to write the review I couldn't think of anything notable (good or bad) to write about the course. It's a nice piece of land, lot's of rolling hills and really mature tree lines, huge trees on many holes. Course is in really good shape (as of July 2013) with lots of natural moisture keeping it lush and green. There's always some kind of wedding event going on with lots of clubhouse activity and they usually have cart service on the course. Many of the par 4's are short, probably single digit handicappers will be bored on this course. The staff isn't there to make you happy, there's so much business for a course like this that they're often completely unprofessional. They had a guy giving us a hard time while we played, reminding us that the carts had to be in by a certain time. No concept of a paying customer. If you're in a good mood you can ignore this type of low-class treatment but if you're a discriminating consumer it might rub you the wrong way. They really should train their people on some of the basics of customer service.
Interesting course with deceptively challenging greens
We played a round under overcast skies, which was not altogether unpleasant after the blaring sun over the hill. Pace of play was an issue but they were also back to back from dawn til dusk. With the fog near the coast the course was quite lush, an unexpected plus for CA in the summer. Friendly staff, fairly forgiving fairways, and challenging greens. A lot of fun.
An enjoyable round of golf.
We loved the layout of the course. Local knowledge was not required here and we were immersed in the fragrant eucalyptus trees.
Overall a good course
My only criticisim is that the Driving Range is right next to one of the greens on the front nine. My group almost got hit by balls coming through the net. Callenging yet fun course. I will definetly visit this course in the future
Very challenging course - hilly with lots of elevation changes!
Played here on a Friday afternoon for the first time. Course was crowded, but the numerous Ambassadors on the course monitored pace of play and kept things moving. Found the course itself to be very tight & challenging - there are many houses literally right off the fairway. You have to cross numerous residential streets in between holes. Also, lots of rough that will eat wayward balls. No water to speak of. I was surprised by the many changes in elevation (for whatever reason I had pictured a flat links course, since it is located very close to the ocean). Would definitely play here again, assuming I can get a decent rate on Golf Now!
