Wekiva Golf Club

About
A solid course design and immaculate course conditions make Wekiva a favored golf destination. Crafted out of a wooded setting, it features many doglegs bordered by large stands of trees and no parallel fairways. Most holes are well bunkered with water coming into play on three holes.
A semi-private club that welcomes outside play, this 18-hole, 6,849 yard par 72 course has mature oaks, pines and palms; equitable undulating fairways; strategic bunkers and gentle mounding that highlights both the fairway and greens.
Wekiva, only 4 miles from I-4's exit 48, is a golf club in the truest sense.

#16 from Tee Photo submitted by Steve8905914 on 10/20/2014
Really good value, give it a go.
Played Wekiva five years ago and it was okay. Heard that Simola county has taken over the course So decided to give it another go. Boy was I surprised. They have really turned it around. The fairways were in fairly good condition and the greens were running very good. Bunkers are good as well. Had lunch at the course, good home style cooking at a reasonable price. Thanks.
Just OK
Not sure if I'd recommend this or not. I'm on the fence. Tee boxes were not good but we really don't care about that part of a course since we always tee up. Fairways were inconsistent. There were green areas and some not so green. But typical for winter here. #17 green was in very poor condition. But most were fairly good. And putted true for the most part. Sand was gray but fluffy and very fair. This course has a lot of golfers that are obviously learning the game and knew little etiquette. One golfer in front of us swung 3 times and missed each one with huge divots. And never fixed any of them. Carts are zippy. Very little water to worry about.
Pretty good
Staff is very friendly. For the price you can’t really complain. The greens are definitely in rough shape and the fairways could use a touch up here and there. But would definitely play again
Always a good day for golf.
We were off the first tee at 7am so it was a little chilly but it warmed up quickly and was a great day for golf. Overall, the course is in decent shape since we recently had more rain than during the winter months. Staff was friendly and efficient. We will play this course again soon.
Decent course for a budget
Good Value for 18 hole county owned course; fairways are average at best, dried out and run down; tee boxes are average; fair layout and definitely still a challenge; just not luxurious with all the bells and whistles of nicer courses; only a couple holes water comes in; mostly wide fairway drives and good distance from white tees.
Decent course
Some of the tees were under maintenance which shortened a couple of par 3 holes. Overall the course was in decent condition, not too much water but plenty of sand traps.
Lovely Course
The staff were exceptionally welcoming and helpful. The area is scenic, the greens a little rough, but look forward to returning soon
Bad conditions
Bad Green
Bad tee off
I ask to play only with m’y partner, they say no,and there was a few people on the course.
Tired Golf Course
Wekiva is an undermaintained, poorly conditioned golf course. The greens were average, fairways poorly maintained and the teeing areas below average. It needs a new irrigation system and a complete renovation.
Improving conditions
The city or county bought Wekiva golf club in past year and is putting improvements all over to restore this ..greenskeeper is happy and this is the best value golf course in area. I visit Florida every year for two weeks in February and seen good greens and well packed sand traps. I will be back
Going to be an AMAZING course soon.
Greens need work and so do the tee boxes but still worth the money.
A Disappointment
Our weekly group had not been at Wekiva for some time due to the less than stellar reviews. Howeve, after seeing some better reviews, we decided to give it a try. Our day started when we checked in with the staff member whose demeanor might generously be described as "surly". Perhaps he was only being sarcastic but he came off as unhappy to be there dealing wth the public. We got to the tee a few minutes before our appointed tee time only to encounter two golfers who had hit their drives but continued standing on the tee looking furtively toward the clubhouse. Turns out that there were two other members of their group who were still in the clubhouse but the guys who hit just stood there ignoring our calls to move on and made our group of 12 wait until their buddies managed to mosey down from the clubhouse. After they finally hit, we were ready to go but a three-some whose time had been 20 minutes before ours but who had been late getting to the course suddenly drove up and announced that aomeone at the desk had told them just to go to the tee because they were next. Had a Ranger been there, none of this would have happened. Eventually, the first of our three groups was able to tee off. Unfortunately, the course was in relatively poor condition. Almost every fairway had several areas where the grass was very sparse so if you wanted to hit off anything other than dirt, you frequently had to look around for a tuft of grass. Yet, the fairways actually were in better condition than the greens, most of which seemed to be comprised largely of "tamped down" sand with some grass that had been painted with a black/green stain of some sort. High shots coming to the green tended to plug and putting was a bit of an adventure. The best part of the course were the bunkers...at least the ones I visited...which were in decent condition. Some us had vouchers from Group Golfer but others paid the full price. For the $29 voucher, it was okay. Those in our group who paid the full price all said it wasn't worth $45 and even those who had a voucher said they don't want to return until conditions improve.
Mr
Solid course with some nice holes. Particularly liked the par 5's. It was a windy day which made some of the holes very challenging.
Overall, a very good experience and golf course.
