Overall a Great Course for the money
Like the title says overall this is a really a great course for the money you're paying. I'm basing this review on current conditions. This really is a top course in the area but a few things keep it back form getting over the hump from 4 to 5 stars. They really lack in staff and the restaurant/bar. The starters are almost useless and always disorganized, I wouldn't say they are rude but I certainly wouldn't say they are friendly. Once on the course do not expect anyone to ever marshall or help move people along. There is no cart service. Lately a number of greens have fallen off what I normally expect from this course, in a few holes expect a crazy number of ball marks and some bouncy putts here and there. If they could only keep the greens like the practice green. All that said the course is really fun and has a number of risk reward type holes. Water can come into play, if not just to give you something to think about. A few holes have uphill approach and play longer than you think even compensating for uphill. Most traps you can hit out of and aren't hard packed. On average a weekend round takes about 4 hours, which is about par for weekends on a crowded course right now.
Worth the drive
This was my last round in Florida before returning to the ice and snow of New England, and I'd have to say the best. Not only was the course well maintained, but it had great practice facilities from a driving range to a chipping green complete with bunker and a nice putting green. I was paired with three affable Canadians and we enjoyed an unhurried 3 1/2 hour round. Greens were receptive, though a bit slow, and fairways were mostly generous. Bunkers were well placed and there were enough risk/reward scenarios to challenge your shot making. Playing from the white tees, there are several holes requiring less than driver and enough water hazards to get your attention. I would definitely play the blue tees next time (if my partners agree), but either way it's an enjoyable track with plenty of variety. I will put this course on my favorites list for southern Florida.
good day
weather was great and we were paired with a very nice couple from Denmark. Pace was good and course was in good shape. Staff friendly and helpful
Beautiful course, horrible staff
The pro shop staff were indifferent and provided little help for someone who has never been there. Here were no carts available for 30 minutes after my arrival and finally got one as I teed off. There was no Marshall on the course to help keep up the pace. At one point there were 4 groups on each of the last 4 holes. The course itself was challenging from the back tees and in good shape.
Surprisingly nice course conditions
Unlike a lot of Ft. Lauderdale area muni courses, Pembroke Lakes actually has really nice turf. Rather than spotty and paper-thin grass, the fairways are consistent and well maintained. Greens weren't pocked with ball marks and seemed to roll true. Played 18 in 4:15 on a Saturday, so no complaints about pace of play either. All-in-all, a very nice course for the money.
Best value
Pembroke lakes is one of the best value golf course in Fort Lauderdale. Nice greens! The sand traps are one of the best I played in the last year.
Would definitely play again
Have played several other courses in this area, and this is the most enjoyable by far.
pleasant experience except....
Enjoyable layout, white tees were placed too far up the tee box, creating short par fours and 450 yard par fives. Would play blues next time. There was congestion after the front nine as a twosome butted in at the 10th tee. We suggested that they join the twosome behind us ( as they dangerously hit into us a few holes earlier, to no avail). I spoke to an employee in the proshop who was somewhat disinterested. Despite a couple of issues I would come back due to the quality of the greens..
Pleasant surprise
Thoroughly enjoyed the experience
First time playing, interesting layout, good use of water, will be back in two weeks with guests
Good value
Course itself was in great shape. We played as a twosome. Staff at check in were friendly and informative. We made the turn and fought up to a group who let us play through. The next group we had to pass on 11 because they wouldn’t. Our cart started to die around the 14th hole but the Golf shop closed at 1pm so we couldn’t get help. Finished the round and went to play 10 again just to make up missing the 11th hole. Worker rolls up and says, hey chief!!! Is there a reason you’re teeing off again on #10? I explained we skipped a hole and were just playing one more, which was fine. But the hey chief was uncalled for. For $40 I would recommend playing
Well organized course
Excellent overall. Great greens and fairways and challenging. Will be coming back
