Located just off the beautiful Gold Coast, the Diplomat Golf and Tennis Club sprawls across a lush terrain covered with thousands of coconut and Royal palms. Towering banyans provide shade throughout the golf course as well. Although it is a public course, it has the look and feel of a private club. It has been a staple of the south Florida community since opening in 1957. The layout features interesting hole designs that incorporate raised greens framed by contoured mounding and more than 75 strategically placed sand bunkers. The water features are hard to miss seeing as they come into play on all but two holes. The golf course is a challenge but not too intimidating for less experienced players. The beautiful scenery alone will be well worth the round.

An oldie but goodie
Nice course in good condition evokes the feel of Florida in the 50s-60-s when it probably was at its peak. But thats a good thing mostly, as is a trip back to your favorite resturants and find their formula still works and you are pleasantly surprised !!

Highly recommended with the Golf Now discount, including free unlimited practice balls, golf carts with GPS, a ball and club washer.
Great course at reasonable price
really enjoyed my round here, course in great shape, greens runs run true and fast, one disconcerting item was one of the pros was right in front of us giving an on course lesson, that's fine except it made the front nine quite slow, apparently the pro wasn't providing a lesson on course ettiquette!
Very nice layout and shape for the price
I was looking for a good course while on vacation in Miami and came across the Diplomat for $62 and with the outrageous price of everything else this course was more then we could have asked for or expected. It is tight course that lends itself to fall into the target golf category but still a very fun track that I would recommend to anyone in the area.
My Favorite, great condition
My favorite course in Miami, great staff, very well maintained (except for a couple of the greens) very good mix of challenging holes with hazard and length.

From website and online research I was expecting a nicer course. It was good but no better than that. I found the range balls all over the holes near the range a big nuisance, Ever heard of a screen? I saved $20 per person with golfnow. Great deal.
Class track
Overall interesting, challenging, manicured, friendly staff, nice premises, range balls, complete practice area.
And most of all, close, so we can play later and not be stuck in the traffic. Back home in time fo cocktail hour.

Overall the best golf played this year (9 courses) and one of the best played in Florida in recent years (25 courses). From the point of view of an European (Swiss) golf varied and enjoyable for all handicaps.
Great value, great features
We enjoyed our round, the course was in very nice condition, well maintained. The touch scree gps was outstanding, you can touch the spot you want on the screen and it gives you the distance and the following shot distance to the hole. a great value
A fun course that is well designed, but course maintenance not up to usual Troon standards
The Diplomat is a fun course with plenty of bunkers and water. The course management is not up to Troon's usual standards. The fairways were playable, but far from pristine. The greens were fast and true, but need some TLC from the players and greens-keepers. The range turf is really haggard, and it needs to be picked more frequently with many slices littering the first fairway; a screen is really needed for player safety. The restaurant had good food, but it was clearly understaffed at the three meals that I was present. The course is conveniently located, and I will likely return, but they need a firmer manager.
Watch Out!
This course falls short on many, many levels. First is the price. Who has ever heard of paying a car valet fee at a golf course for a course that is already overpriced anyway.
The course was in "OK" shape but has one of the dumbest layouts I have seen. There are at least 6 or 7 holes where people on one hole are hitting into people on another hole (including the very first whole). The greens were also very slow.
To end our day I realized when I got back to the time share that the guy who cleaned our clubs lost my 3-wood head cover. This after tipping him $10.
Too expensive and not that good of a track. You can do better!!
Well Maintained
This course is in good shape. Free range balls was a nice plus. The staff was very friendly. It wasn't too busy so we finished our round pretty quickly. I would definitely play this course again.
