East at Orangebrook Country Club

About
There are two 18-hole golf courses available at Orangebrook Country Club in Hollywood, the East and the West. Built in the 1930s, the East Course is the club's original layout. While its design may be more traditional, it is just as much of a challenge as the newer West Course. The East has fewer water hazards but there are large bunkers strategically placed throughout. There are some tricky holes included in the design but there are also many player-friendly features as well including wide-open fairways and generous landing areas. Players can get their practice in on the large, lighted driving range that has both distance markers and a practice bunker. Orangebrook C.C. offers not one but two player-friendly but challenging rounds, making it popular amongst locals for being one of the area's best values.

You can play for $25-$30 but save your money!
Where to even start. The place is run down. The tee boxes are dirt and super patched. The fairways are cut way to short and almost impossible to end up in a good lie. The rougg around the entire course is very over grown and you will 100% lose balls that are well with in play. Overall the course has a great layout and could be a really fun course if they would put some money into it. SAVE YOUR MONEY!
Good for the money
The course has seen better days. That said, it's fine. The rough was longer than usual and patchy. We are in the rainy season though. The fairways were cut fine. The greens fast and the surface isn't in the best shape. If you're hitting fairways, it's a nice round just be prepared for the greens. Didn't have any real pace of play issues this time around, but I think that all depends on what day and when you play. For me, a beginner and/or novice, it can be a tough course to play if you're not driving the ball well especially in unforgiving rough areas. Definitely worth playing.
lush
rough in areas was so thick committee ruled no lost balls however the fairways are green and full of life, greens playable,, traps neglected, but real nice hitting off of thick grass fairways !
You Make the Call.
Arrived at the course and they promptly told me the East course was closed and that everyone was moved to West. They did not seem to pair people up efficiently as I offered to play with the twosome teeing off. However we had a single in front of us for 13 holes. We let a single behind us join up. I say 13 holes as they blew the siren when it started to rain quite hard. I think a few of us paid attention and went in but everyone else seemed to stay on the course. Felt that course management was highly unorganized. Also, when I checked in there was a huge sign that said No Rainchecks as if they knew. Still like the course and will continue to go back as it is a good deal and fun to play. Lastly the rough was truly rough. Very overgrown. There was not a first cut of rough. It was all deep deep deep. Rewarded if you stay on the Fairway.
Absolute joke
Hahahahahaah I’m laughing cause this course is so terrible it’s comical.
Crabgrass everywhere even on the greens, puts were unreadable, got to the point we counted everything on the greens as an automatic two put. I honestly don’t think they own a lawn mower because everything was disgustingly overgrown, they might actually maintain the greens with scissors now that I think about it🤔 pace of play was also horrendous. Had a 6 hour round. Don’t waste your time or money on this sorry excuse of a golf course.
Best course in the area
This is a wonderful course. Conditions are excellent. Greens, tees, fairways even the rough is perfect.
Highly recommended.
Great course.
The greens are a little shaggy but the rest of the course is in a great shape.
Worst course EVER
Boring layout… everything straight ahead. Lumpy, weed laden, greens,; so bad I stopped putting on the second hole and used my pitching wedge to put. Fairways terrible; also loaded with weeds. Spent most of the day shooting from the rough because the weedy fairways were so narrow and abbreviated. The rough was WAY too high and full of clippings… spent a good deal of time searching in the too-tall rough for balls.
All in all, a terrible golf experience.
Visiting golfer
I was visiting from out of town and relied on their advertising. Clubhouse looked like it was abandoned, no driving range even though website said they did, staff was unfriendly, and the front nine of east course was a disaster. We were allowed to play the front nine of the west course and it was only slightly better. Par 4s converted to par 3s with greens int he fairway, bad signage, cartpaths, greens and fairways. This place should be condemned!
Skip this one.
This probably used to be a very fun course. Design is good. They are budget friendly and it’s reflected in state. driving range was close and replaced by police station. reportedly course is closing down in the winter for a full remodel. Felt like mostly walk-ins playing as the course was packed and pace of play pretty slow on Sunday evening which is to be expected. However lots of open tee times on the app.
Rough was pretty rough and greens were pretty challenging to roll a ball straight.
I played 11 holes and called it day.

Look… the proshop is well stocked. The course is just terrible. The majority of the greens are absolute trash. Probably running a 3-5 because they are so overgrown and cancer ridden. There’s a handful of “ok” greens, but that’s the nicest I can say. Tee boxes are sandboxes, losing golf balls in broad daylight…. It’s a shame too. Grounds crew all over and people efforting to do their job, but this course is a gigantic miss. I am from Orlando and played with my co-worker from Seattle. We both agreed this was the worse we’ve seen. All of the staff are VERY cordial, but it stops there.
Not so great.
I played a round yesterday and while I appreciate the user-friendly layout of the course, the condition of the front nine greens made for a disappointing experience. They were nearly unplayable—bumpy, patchy, and very inconsistent, which made putting a real challenge.
The back nine was in slightly better shape, and overall, the course design is enjoyable and accessible for players of all levels. Staff were welcoming and the pace of play was good, but until the greens on the front side are properly addressed, the course isn’t playing to its full potential.
Mixed up my courses.
Orangebrook is a terrible course.
Terrible fairways, miserable greens.
Rough is so high you loose you balls in plain sight.
Avoid the course
