fun in the desert
first time to palm springs area and we selected this course due to times available that worked with our schedule- the course was nice and weather beautiful- but what made our experience memorable was Dar Findley- Dar was working the south course but came over to the north course to get us some food and drinks- her customer service representing that facility was awesome- we were taken care of all day long- the next day we were suppose to play another course but chose the south course just because of the recommendation by Dar - and the fact that she was working there that day as well-looking forward to my next work/leisure trip out that way-
Not what it use to be
I've played this course many times over many years.
It is unfortunate the neglect this place receives. Although the staff, layout and pace of play(no one else was on the course) was great, the course itself is in horrible condition....Off the fairways are not watered and just ugly patches of burnt grass and hard mud, the ruff is uncared for and either burnt or 6 inches tall. The cart paths are pot holed and dusty, the once lakes are unattended waste areas. The beautiful clubhouse is closed (need to go across the street for food and refreshments). Even at a discount price there are much better cared for places to play golf in the desert. Don't waste you time here!!!
Golf
The biggest draw to this old course is it's iconic clubhouse. This was where the Rat Pack teed it up and partied.Since golf in general is kept afloat by the baby boomers and older it was a course we always played and would talk about with others about their club house. After the round you could sit in the chair at the bar and think back many years when frank,Dean, Sammy, Peter and Joey held court. This made this course a must play and dine. Now that they have closed the clubhouse to the public it's just another old course.Better values elsewhere. Management made a big mistake in my humble opinion.
Wonderful experience
Course was in great shape, staff friendly and pace of play excellent.
Wind free
Great place to escape the wind. Friendly staff. Well maintained. Nice course for the money and our deal included breakfast.
Excellent course
Excellent conditions and great staff. Will play here again definitely!
Highly recommended.
Beautiful course, very well kept, extremely friendly and accommodating staff. I would recommend this course without hesitation
old palm springs
This course will remind you of the old days in Palm Springs. Very retro with long and wide fairways. Love the course but some of the employees are annoying. Haven't been to the course once without being scolded or preached to about the rules or how to get around the course, etc. Maybe they should lighten up and smile once in a while. I'm not a child...I know how to play a round.
OK
Course was OK but it appeared that it was end of season and maintenance was lacking. Pace of play was brutal. We finally asked a Marshall who showed up at hole 6 after we asked the cart girl to call him. He reluctantly arranged for us to play through. Then we caught up to another group who let us play through after 3 holes which took 47 minutes.
Could be really nice. Fun to look at the photos in the clubhouse.
Staff and course conditions
Excellent course, beautiful layout had a great day. I had noticed that I lost my sunglasses as we left. Looked but could not find them. The staff went the extra mile for me and searched every where. Pro shop found them on one of the shirt racks and returned them. Very grateful. Thanks
Course is in great shape!
An old style course, not fancy, but the fairways are in great shape and so are the greens. Fun to play!
Great Historical Golf Coures
This course is great and if anything it is under recognized by the management for its historical past and the outstanding mid century homes than are on the course stunning originals of Palm Springs
Disappointed in course condition.
I played this course a month ago and the conditions were somewhat better. Fairways and greens were fine; traps were compacted sand with grass hanging over edges, The lake on one of the par 3's is an eyesore. On another par 3 the lake is gone. Cart paths are terrible. I have always enjoyed playing the North course and hope it can be improved by next spring.
Customer service class needed
Course is beautiful but staff is very unfriendly, dismissive and at times outright rude. As much as we love this course and the views I doubt we will be back.
