This place has gone to the dogs
HERON BAY!!! What have you done?!?!? This was a PGA tour stop - CANNOT believe they are still allowed to call this a TPC course?
RED ANTS EVERYWHERE!
Looks like a lawn mower training school. Bushell's of chopped grass everywhere - hit the fairway and lose your ball.
Golf cart died on the 13th hole
Water in bunkers - probably fish in there as well
No cart girl in 94* heat
Greens worse then my front lawn
It's a sad sad state of affairs how they've let a course like this go in one of the best areas of Broward County. SO much potential - so little care.
Will not be back until under new management
Not what it was
Course is not what it used to be but is now being run by Clublink which has bought several courses in Broward and has improved them. Conditions were OK tees and fairways but greens were real slow due to recent aerate/topdressing. Was cart paths only and front nine only open on day I played. Good for a practice round at low price. Hopefully conditions will improve
Awful drainage, terrible fairways.
This course is not worth any amount of money. It had just finished pooring before we got on the course, so I understand it being really wet, but with the Florida heat you'd expect it to dry up rather quick like other courses. This was not the case, massive puddles all over the place, fairways were essentially swamps and hadn't been cut for a while. Tons of burnt patches all over the place. The pro-shop was nice however, with a friendly pro there.
The worst course I played
Heron bay is on the worse conditioned golf course I've played. The fairways are full of weeds and if mowed clumps of grass all over. A course known for its bunkering only had green side bunkers manicured. Not one fairway bunker maintained. Red ant hills all over which I had misfortune of stepping on. Greens airated and terrible. My playing partner and I quit after 9 holes it was so bad. Will never return
Course continues to get worse and worse.
The course is in VERY poor condition. The green speeds were running at a 7, which seemed odd since it's the middle of summer. Turns out all of the greens have had sand placed on them, meaning plenty of bumps and hops on putts with true roll on greens. This is not a result of punching the greens as only one green had aeration marks. Fairways were left uncut in patches and toughs simply unkept. Played this course numerous times and it feels like they've just given up on course maintenance. Combined with the pace of the round (6 hour round), simply not worth it. Even for the $20 rate...
Pace of Play
This may have been one of the slowest rounds of golf I've ever had. We started at 8:30 and finished at close to 2:00pm. It's unacceptable that it takes 4 golfers about 5 1/2 hours to play 18 holes. There was no ranger on the course to tell the group in front of us to speed up. They would have 3 people on the green and 1 guy driving in the rough trying to find a ball. The 3 on the green would finish and the other guy would FINALLY find his ball and he'd finish out the hole. I dont understand how this was allowed for 18 holes. The course was in fairly good shape besides the greens, which had been aerated a few weeks ago.
Could be a outstanding course
The course conditions are extremely poor even for off season summer months. But I only paid $20
They have lost the greens
Condition of the greens make this a nonstarter. Sand only. Chipping and putting are reduced to a non skill level. Will ruin for other courses.
Poor condition
Wasn't warned before purchasing about the condition of the course
Beautiful gorgeous
This course is a beautiful course to play the only inconvenience is when you can't go to your ball with the cart cart path only is very inconvenient because the fairways are very wide you will be doing a lot of walking have to guess distance before going to ball to take the right clubs cards have GPS on them I've played this course numerous times love the course when you can get to your ball with the cart
Lots of Sand traps, but course is one to play
Course play (speed) varies, I am sure we all know that. We experienced slow play in front of us and rather fast play behind us. (two foursomes ahead of us and a single play behind us)
Due to bad weather it was cart path play only. We all honored that, The major issue was the single behind us played into us causes us to speed our shot selection thus poor scores.
There should have been a ranger on the course to help with this situation.
I took the hole 8 challenge. The issue was that the machine did not work well which caused to much thought and poor execution for hole 8. Basically trying to figure out why the machine wasn't working well then finally getting it to work rushed the shot. I would like to try it again but it would be nice if it wore more automated.
over all the course is great, the challenge is welcomed and I would play it over and over
Terrible Experience
One of the worst kept up courses I've ever played. Terrible conditions.
Declining Conditions and Personnel
I live at Heron Bay , having a course this close to home was an attrative option when we moved here. What was once a PGA Tour stop is now just a bunch of sad grass infested bunkers. Conditions are far worse than when we moved here 3 years ago. The summer is a down time for courses here in FL. Given that fact the conditions at this course are not improved during season. So the same course they charge $75 a round in season is the same course they charge $20 a round out of season. I know $20 sounds like a deal but you can find better conditioned courses at a similar price.
I don't know if this is a coincidence but items are mysteriously disappearing from the time you check in until you get to your cart. This happened the last two times I played there. Just keep an eye on your valuables.
No water but lots of sand!
I had never seen so many sand traps in all my playing! There was beach everywhere; around the greens, around the fairways...you name it! The greens are very well kept albeit I found them slow and went short in more than one hole (slow learner). A loo...oong well-manicured course worth the money even with the extreme summer Florida heat.
Quality layout, exceptional value, average conditions
Quality design, lots of strategically placed bunkers, requires good placement off the tees playing from 6700 yards. A course to play if you want a quality design for an almost steal of a price. Like the other reviews, the quality is average and the course could easily be 4 stars with more TLC. So not your course if the conditions need to be above average. Bottomline, the value makes up for this, so I'll be back when I travel to South Florida
If price is right go for it
Fairways nice. Greens consistent and manicured but slow. Rough needs to be manicured. Lots of crab grass, weeds and dead dirt patches. Not what it once was but for $20-$30 a great value
Course needs TLC
This course was once a fabulous course, but currently needs some TLC. I think that the Par 3 8th hole is awesome because you can have a chance to win $$$ if you enter and get a hole in one. Any shot inside 20' and you get a discount for your next visit. I will play the course again just for that reason.
Very poor shape
Course has really gone down hill in the last few years.
Nice course
This is a nice course. Plenty of sand but I was able to use the driver all day.
