Course is great, non-golf related services need to be improved
The course is what you would expect a former PGA tour stop to be, long and straight. No gimmicky holes but over 90 sand traps to keep you interested. A couple of hints that is no longer owned by the TPC is that the bathrooms on the course had no running water, the men's locker room was being used for additional storage and the 19th hole food service was bad, as our four meals came at three different times. Normally I would reflect this poor service in the tip, but that was "conveniently" already included in the bill at 20%...
Course is great for all level of play
I play Heron Bay every time I come to Florida, at least 2 or 3 times. Fun to play, price is right thru Golf Now
Nice conditions with well placed traps
It was a nice course with well protected bunkers along the fairways and around the greens. Course was in great condition and played fairly fast for a Saturday morning.
Good layout with generous fairways.
Tuff course especially in the wind and rain and cold.Greens were fairly quick, probably 10 but not as good as you would think compared to other courses I've played.
Nice course
Nice course buy too expensive, I got a great deal on golf now
Great Experience
Heron Bay is a great value and a terrific experience for a public course. The club setting, good driving range, full course GPS, and terrific 19th hole are better than you normally find at a public course in Broward County. The course itself is a lot of fun -- relatively forgiving, but challenging enough (not much water, but LOTS of sand). Only "negative" is slow pace, which is not surprising given the price. Overall, one of the best reasonably priced, quality rounds in this area.
average course
We get an offer at front desk for range balls , lunch all you can eat and soft drinks......the machine for the ball range was out of balls...started with ourse empty do not let us play till the time ex tly we booked.... ourse was crowded. ...the lunch was an other history...you have to pay what do you eat over 9 dollars...drinks were charged ....i was upset with my golf experience....
Very good course with plenty of sand traps
Course is condition is very good with a lot of fairway and greenside sand bunkers. For some, it may be kind of boring since every shot that you make, it may go into a bunker. Other than that, there are plenty of elevation changes and contours on the greens.
Lots of bunkers
Positive: Course condition fantastic, staff fantastic
Negative: no marshals and we had problem infront cause they're slow and problem from the back getting balls over the heads what I find ridiculous
Fun experience
This was a challenging course that will test your game yet is quite forgiving at the same time. There aren't many tricky holes out there as there are no blind approaches. Course was in good shape and the staff made the whole experience very enjoyable. Look forward to playing this course again if I'm back in the area.
Truly enjoyable
This was the second time I played this course. I really enjoyed my rounds. Pace of play was great. Course conditions outstanding. Bunkers galore and they come in to play on almost every shot. Had a great round.
great value
Best value for locals, braving the winter rates and still trying to get your golf on. Upscale service and upscale course for the same or less than others in area. Great driving range too. All around fun place to play.
Good experience. Will do it again.
I arrived at my 8:48 tee time to find that I would be playing alone. Pro shop person was very cordial, as was the starter. Practiced on putting green, and the very nice practice sand trap. Then took off alone. Another single and I eventually hooked up for a very pleasurable round. We finished in under 3 1/2 hours, but we were only two players, and there was no one in front of us.
This course is famous for sand, and that is well deserved. Course management is a real issue. I was able to avoid all but three bunkers during the round. The bunkers actually have real sand in them (!) making escape from them easier. So many courses have dirt rather than sand in their bunkers. The fairways and greens are in excellent condition. Shot a below 90 round (good for me) and finished with the same ball I started with.
All in all a very good experience, and I will play Heron Bay again for sure.
Good golf course, in good condition
Good golf course for the price. Fairways and greens in good condition. The sandtraps could use some attention. A definite play again course.
nice course, lack of support staff
very hot day, little water to drink on the course. Finally saw the beveridge cart as we were walking off the 18th green at 1230!
Went for a snack/drink in the restaurant..waited 10 minutes, no one was even behind the bar or servicing customers!! Some 4 males with staff badges were sitting at a table and watched me leave when I announced to my group that we should go. No effort to help find someone to serve!! Just bizarre service (lack of)
Tupo al Floridian course
The course should not have been open as it was saturated. Luckily I played with two great guys and had a good time.
test yourself, p lay this course.
Huge bunkers, both fairway and greenside, tests your approach. greens run well, and surprisingly straight. wind can pick up, and test you even more.
Good course,but greens terrible
I have played here for years, love the course but sometimes i feel you pay for the name. I was dissapointed in the greens. They were slow and hairy. For $55 bucks the greens should be in better condition. We could have played Boca Greens for $38 or Osprey $44 and greens at both are way better. Even Pompano Norman course has better greens...Still a great lay out, I will play here again, I just hope they get the greens back. I would recommend calling before playing to check on greens condition, if good, then give it a go!
need a challenge?
very good challenge to test your accuracy. Important to pick the good set of tees, otherwise the big numbers are easy to get.11
The course was nice, but we were waiting every hole, much too slow!
The course itself was very nice, but it took us more than 5 hours to play 18 holes, it takes the enjoyment out of the game!
