Great course ... Better have a good sand bunker game
Great course...played 48 holes...very challenging...multiple sand bunkers on every hole
Heron Bay
The inclusion of lunch and range balls for $ 6.95 made this a decent deal for the price $ 45.00 total.
However, the greens were not in good shape and actually had crabgrass growing into the bermuda. I have not played this course since it used to host the Honda Classic. Obviously with the downturn in the economy they have struggled to keep it maintained. Fairways were good but greens and bunkers need some work. I would rate this as a little below average in terms of the physical conditions.
This course has a nice history but the current conditions are poor.
The course's condition is not good. There are weeds everywhere. On the tees, in the fairways, in the sand traps, and even on the greens!
Generous fairways, lots of traps, interesting par 3's. A fun course to play if only the conditions would be better. No rangers at all on the course. Only one beverage cart, poorly
stocked, for the entire course. Clearly, the management has reduced staffing everywhere in order to maximize their profits.
Used to be a great place to play, but no more!
Great layout, needs some TLC
This is a long, challenging course with a lot of bunkers. It requires accurate drives and approaches. Your game will be tested. Fun to play.
That being said, new ownership has let it slide a bit from the times of the Honda Classic. Landscaping accents are minimal in some areas, overgrown in others, and the course really needs a good investment and overhaul, aesthetically, if they want it to stack up to other premium courses in the area. Overpriced at the door ($60), but deals can be found online.
Great Value for your money!
Tees and fairways are maintained properly. Greens were nice but a bit slow. I've played Heron Bay many times and greens have always been quicker. However, this may be due to the great amount of rains we've had recently. So I'll give them a mulligan on that.
Course needs a lot of up keep
I should have taken the advise of past reviews! It is target golf at it's best. Bunkers have grass growing in them and the greens have weeds and super slow. You get what you pay for and this course is a PRIME example of that! Spent a little get less! I won't go back! Former TPC course is an under statement ! Goat track would be better!
Fabulous Course
I recently played there with a golfnow discount. Course was in great shape. What's makes it exceptionally hard is the numerous bunkers on every hole. Also, you can't go wrong with GPS in the carts. Best course in Fort Lauderdale!
Nice Course...Will Play Next Weekend again!
Nice Course...Will Play again Next Weekend! After all this rain..this course was like perfect..Thanks
Conditions are spotty at best
I played this course several months ago, and thought that they would improve the landscaping and overall condition as the spring/summer season approached with steady rains, but was still disappointed when I played last week (6/9/13). It seems as though they're either strapped for cash to improve the course conditions, or simply need a new course management/ownership company. Anyone who stated recently that this course is in good/great condition is not being truthful.
Absolutely beautiful course
Great pace of play beautiful greens with true rolls and beautiful scenery only problem is no cart girl on weekdays
Terrible Experience
I would not recommend any one to Heron Bay and I live in Heron Bay The grounds are not maintained The greens are horrible and they have the nerve to watch you while you play. I think people should boycott Heron Bay. I will never play this course again.
Saturday Game
The course needs some attention - several greens were in rough shape and the fairways were full of divots. Overall a nice course but it's glory days (TPC) needs to be recaptured.
The course was not fairly maintained.
I played at Heron Bay two years ago and the course was beautiful and well maintained. However, this was not the case during my recent visit. The course was poorly maintained and the greens were terrible. It seems like a place going out of business soon. There is no budget allocated to landscaping.
Overall good course to play but par 5's are very long.
Overall good course to play. If they improved greens condition (May '13) and landscaping, it would be one of my favorite courses to play!
Good challenging course...
This is a great course for the money and the condition is not too bad. The owners need to be careful though if the course is not maintained it could go down hill real fast. Definitely a course worth saving! All things considered good for the money.
Needs some attention, but overall good
I had a pleasurable experience playing at heron bay yesterday, practice facilities were nice, several greens and tee boxes were spotty, several fairway bunkers needed attention.
Nice course for the money
This course was in average shape, it had a nice layout and was pretty well maintained. My only complaint was about the condition of the greens. They were in average shape. Usually I like courses with faster greens.
Wide open course with plenty of SAND
Course in good shape even though the greens had some
sand on them. great value
Bring a beach towel!!
The course has way too many sand traps. The cart we had was GPS equipped which is a nice feature. The bad part is we had no breaks. (Thank goodness I watched the flintstones as a kid) we requested a new cart via their GPS but no one bothered to attend to our need. Our playing buddies cart did not have a GPS.
