Course need upgrades
sand traps hard as concrete from sprinklers, gps never worked, no attendant at driving range for practice balls.
I will not play here again.
Nearly all the greens are protected by sand traps
The water is not in play, the sand traps are through the fairways, It makes you really calculate your strokes.
Course is beautiful!
Having only used the driving range, I couldn't wait to actually play 18 holes after hearing/reading great reviews and they were not wrong. I played at 4:20, only paid $20 and had the whole place to myself. I wasn't rushed at all. The greens were well maintained and the views of the huge homes were amazing. I even saw about a dozen rabbits running in and out of the bushes. It was a very relaxing afternoon of great golf. I felt bad for the cart attendant waiting until 8 for me to finish though.
Lots of traps
It's well known that Heron Bay has many sand traps. The course calls for accurate shots something that's not usually in my bag as a beginner. Nevertheless, we had a good time on a beautiful day. The cart did run out of power around the 16th, 2nd time for me, and the traps were hard, probably due to all the rain we've had. Overall, I've played the course several times now and will do so in the future. As a bonus, the scenery around the course is very pleasant which makes the whole experience enjoyable.
Great Course with Great Summer Rates
I personally love this course. I shot my best round ever at this course from the Blue tees, which are about 6,700 yards. There are a TON of sand traps, both fairway and greenside, so if you're not a fan of bunkers, buyer beware. But the course itself is in great condition. The greens roll true, tee boxes are in nice shape. The fairways are drying out a little bit, but you're gonna get that anywhere in south Florida around this time of year. Water doesn't come into play on too many holes, unless you have a really bad slice. Pace of play was a little slow, but that really depends on who you get stuck behind. Cart girl came around at least 3 times during our round. It's definitely a great course for the money, especially if you play in the afternoon, the Golfnow rate is only $26. You can't beat it. I definitely recommend this course and plan on playing here a lot this summer.
Easy course but bunkersville
Relatively easy course but tons of bunkers that are difficult to get out of. Bladed a few around the green because the sand is so hard, but the hard sand made it easier to hit out of the fairway from a bunker. Paid $25 to play, with GPS. Had a great time for the money.
Bunkers Need Refurbishing
The most impressive aspects of Heron Bay include club house facility, course layout, and friendliness of staff members both inside and out. The only negative was that many of the over 100 bunkers were without sand or very thinly sanded. This was most evident on the back nine. I would however, recommend this course and will return myself in the very near future.
Too many fair way sand traps!
It seems to be a big sand pit, sand in traps is horrible. Too many fair way bunkers right in landing areas from white tee markers if you only carry 200 yards plus or minus. Very unfair course unless you can carry 240 or more in the air on your drives. Conditions of traps is awful. They had more employees tending traps than they did mowing the grass! Do yourself a big favor and go play Woodlands!
Course needs attention
Green speed different from green to green. Weeds, weeds and weeds. Heron 'Weedville' Bay Golf club.
Got a great deal for twilight golf
Great course, tough layout with plenty of bunkers. Will give you many different looks off the tee. Course always seems to be well maintained. Greens were rolling great. Very playable course.
Slight fall off in maintenance from TPC days.
Still a nice track. Well worth it...especially at the afternoon rate I paid. They've reduced the size of the greens from what I recall - some crab grass in areas (fairways, not greens!) - cart paths are in need of some repair - but all in all it's still a nice course. Great practice facilities! Freindly staff.
Course is beautiful but,,,,,,
3 complaints.
1. The course had some carts with GPS and some without. A big advantage to one group.
2. Some carts had rakes and some did not. I did not and could not rake fairway traps that had NO rakes.
3. I was a single and booked a 12:56 tee time with a threesome. The starter sent them out to the tee at 12:45 unbeknownst to me so when I showed up 10 minutes early, the group was already teed off and had to rush out there to get in play.
challenging stadium layout
Great course for the $. Challenging stadium layout with wide open layout, but lots of sand to punish the imprecise shot. good news - balls in sand are still in play and obviously not lost. The wind was blowing hard when we played which significantly increased this courses already long lenth.
The course is in a good shape and they are working on some things.
Its not the first time I played here and booked through Golf Now.
Not the TPC Heron Bay of old
Played the course when it was TPC Heron Bay and when it hosted the Honda Classic. Definitely not the same course. Greens in good shape as usually, but need to do a better job controlling the weeds everywhere else. Bunkers were horrible! Like playing off of hardpan. Need to redo the bunkers. Okay value. Fun course if you play from the right tees.
Excellent course
Heron Bay is an excellent course, very challenging, lots of bunkers and water everywhere, very entertaining and in good conditions.
fun couse lot of sand
oddly, the starter changed the GolfNow confirmed tee time and said take it or leave it. I don't care what your GolfNow confirmation says. quite arrogant
GREAT
There is a lot of thing to do on course, the last year I did that course and they don't have GSP anymore......
Course with perfect wide fairways, fast greens, and very friendly course crew
Course with perfect wide fairways, fast greens, and very friendly course crew
The course is in terrible condition and has clearly been neglected for many years.
The rough was a collection of patchy weeds. The greens had not been mowed on a busy weekend day. The bunkers consisted of 1/2" of loose sand over packed, wet sand; they clearly need help with drainage. The fairways had several day old lines of grass clippings caused by a lot of rain (most courses remove these no later than the next dry day). The starter was a grouch and the range was closed because the picker was broken.
I am glad that I did not pay more than $50 to play this goat ranch.
