Greens were in very good shape
The course was well maintened and fun to play. The greens were in good shape. Very nice day of golf for a great price.
Challenging layout with MANY bunkers.
Not maintained to same level as when it was a TPC, but still nice.
Could be better but could be worse
We recently played 2 rounds there, and after the 1st round, was somewhat disappointed. Having hosted the Honda Classic for several years, was expecting much better. Practice area was nice. Course was very brown and dry. A lot of sand made for a challenging round, but initially was very disappointed. A few days later, looking to get another round in before leaving, we played again and it was as if we were playing a different course. Some rain the the days after the first round seemingly breathed new life into the course, which turned green over night. The water improved the condition, especially around the greens. I would say the course has seen its better days, and I would definitely suggest booking through Golfnow.com, where we saved 30% from even the discounted rate offered to guests of the neighboring Marriott. Nice course to play if the conditions are right.
it was a nice layout, lots of sand but not bad.
Fun course, great price, we played for $20 each which the starter commented was the lowest he had ever seen. Overall not a bad course and it was a great deal for $20. The course was a little beat up- the cart had no brakes- greens were dry, grass was brown. I"m sure i was spoiled by Parkland Golf which i had just played the day before. Parkland was pristine. One more thing- if you order food make sure you have a long time before your tee time, it took almost an hour to get a sandwich (but it was very good when it arrived).
Use to be a treat to play TPC Heron bay! Now its time to find a new course to treat yourself.
I use to love this course when it was the "Honda Classic" With Club Link now in charge you get the feeling they are bleeding it dry. Its a shame the conditions are so rough. I would easily pay double the $67 rate if the course was like it use to be! Also you would get rid of the hackers! They put a twosome with us and 1 guy was playing in jean shorts. He had no clue how to play! Bunkers are not kept up, dead grass everywhere around the greens. They should rope off some of the areas to prevent the carts from driving around the greens. Also the beautiful scenery is all "grounds under repair" What a shame. With the lack of good courses in Broward I use to drive 25 minutes to play their.
Well maintained course, moderate difficulty
Course well maintained. Water is hardly in play, but there are a lot of bunkers. Not many spectucular holes, but not many bad holes.
Very Nice Experience
Golf Course was in good shape and greens were fast which is very important for me, The Golf Course is tough and the wind made it even tougher. Overall a great golf day.
Always a great course to play
I always try to include this course in my play schedule when I travel to Miami. The course was in excellent condition as they were preparing for the Dixie Amateur. Make sure you have your "sand shots in the bag" when you play...there are multiple bunkers on every hole and you are sure to hit at least one during your round. I would highly recommend, especially if you get a great deal from golfnow.com...I saved 40% on green fees.
Great course always a good time
Great value of such a high end course, staff are most accommodating. Hope to play it again soon.
This is a favorite when we travel to South Florida.
Nice Layout, Rarely see other golfers on the course. The staff is always friendly and genuinely glad you are playing the course.
Course is in great shape. Plenty of sand traps. Fun to play
I enjoy this course everytime I play it. The sand traps in the fairways are very challenging
Great course for the money
Great course challenging but forgiving. Staff very friendly. Would recommend for any handicap level. Several tee boxes to choose from.
Great Course for the money will look forward to going again.
Great place to play, go every year (2 times) will go back next year. Great place for the money.
Awsome!
Very easy to get to and such a great gofl course.
lots of bunkers. However, it is very challenging course.
Priced right at this time
I have played this course 10 + times over the last 6 years. They used to charge $125+ during peak season. This is at most a $50 course and that is what I paid this time. Every hold looks the same and is pretty boring. They need to provide more rakes. I think the new concept was that they put a rake on your cart but we did not have one. There are over 90 bunkers. GPS worked great and greens were average. We encountered a raccoon that walked right up to us and went into our cart for food. We were not expecting that. It appeared on the tee box 3 different times. The group in front of us was somewhat slow and there was no ranger in sight. We still finished in reasonable time for Florida golf but could have been done in 3 1/2 hours. We went to have lunch afterwards and waited 10 minutes before we left. There was one waiter and he never made it over. Overall you get what you pay for. This course is worth $50 but not a penny over.
Every hole great
Lots of water and bunkers for a challenge. Conditioning was great, clubhouse and restaurant also great.
Slow greens
Slow greens, well maintained fairways, friendly staff. Didn't offer us a later tee time when we were caught in traffic and had no time to warm up even though there were open times within the hour
Greens need attention
Overall the course was in pretty good shape. The greens need to be a little faster.
Sunday 11/18/2012, early-afternoon disappointment
On-course bathrooms need attention. Beverage cart ran out of diet drinks. Took four hours to play 15 holes (we left after 15). Did not see one ranger on the course, entire round. No one available to help at bag drop (post-round).
Not good
For such a prestigious course I thought it was in really bad shape. The greens were horrible I would be embarrassed to call it my home club
